Playa de Cortes, Guaymas to Osuna Family RV park, Santa Ana

 On the road this morning at about 8:15am.  Heading up out of the park and the road gets worse every year.  The locals just blast through...not us.

 Leaving Guaymas....everyone has a Walmart and a Sam's Club.

 Once we're out on the highway it's nice and smooth....concrete.

 110 km or 66 miles to Hermosillo.

 This area used to be asphalt and a lot narrower.  Now it's just a big swooping highway.

 Coming into Hermosillo and the road all the way through is just crap!  We're heading under the overpass to use the periferico.  Earlier on as we were coming into town it looked like they may be building a Hermosillo bypass.  Wouldn't it be nice if it was like Obregon?

 Follow that bus.

 Turn left up here.

 Hey the lake has water in it.  It's a dammed lake so sometimes it's almost empty.

 Turn right up ahead and we're through.

 Once we're out of town the road is decent asphalt.

 Bye-bye Hermosillo....see you next fall. 

 Now we're in the land of grapes.  When we first started coming south 10 years ago there were hardly any vineyards but now they go on for kilometer after kilometer.  I wonder what the name of the wine is?

 Beautiful and green and so well taken care of.  Very labor intensive.

 Coming up to the military check point and there are some trucks but no where near as many as we have seen in past years.  The young guy who spoke to us said " Adalante (forward) and that we were going to be checked.  The next guy just waved us through....perfect! 

We stopped at kilometer 69 at the Pemex on the south bound lane and fueled up and had lunch.  35C....very warm!

Getting closer to Santa Ana and you can see the mine.  The road was good except for about 15 kms from km 121 to km 136 and then there was new pavement again. 

 So here we are at the Punta Vista RV park or as it has always been known " Edgar and Ana's"  Sadly they are both now gone.  We saw Edgar last spring when we came through and he wasn't well at all.  when we came through in November he was a house bound invalid after a stroke.  He passed away this winter. 

 Edgar's sister who lives in Hermosillo was here to greet us with her visitor's book.  She said that the land was left to her and her sister as well as Edgar's son who lives in Phoenix.  His wish was that the park would carry on and they will try to do so.  They have cleaned it up nicely, spread pea gravel and improved the 15amp electrical services.  Still a very nice stop for 300 pesos.  She will stay here until the RV traffic stops for the spring and then return to her home in Hermosillo.  In September she will return to look after the park during the RV season.  A big commitment! 

Edgar's sister said that business is light right now but....it is getting late in the season.  She said many RV's flew by last week without stopping as they were afraid that Trump was going to close the border.  She just shook her head and said " Loco" about Trump.  Many would agree!

It is a toasty 35C and we can't run air but there is a light breeze so we'll be okay.  It's now 4:15 and it looks like we'll be the only ones here tonight.  I hope people stop here next year and keep Edgar and Ana's spirit alive.
