Palmares in the Tres Islas Plaza for Ladies lunch.

Another new to us restaurant in the new and very upscale Tres Islas Plaza for Ladies Lunch.  Good reviews on Foodies so we gave it a try.  I made a reservation for 14 using Whats App which is the most popular app for communication here in Mazatlan as it's included in many of the phone plans.  In the end we were 12 as Diane wasn't well and Anita's friend opted out.

A quick trip on the bus into the north end of the Golden Zone.  Located on the second floor and street side in the plaza.

I'd asked for two or three tables but....we got a large one!

We were joined by Marion's sister Ilene who is visiting.  Doesn't she look like Marion?  A lovely lady who, like Marion, is a globe trotter.  So nice to meet her.

Anita on the left is visiting for a month.  She and her husband John who has passed away were long time RV'ers in the Las Jaibas RV park so we all know her very well.  Nice to see her as too. On the right is Cathy.

Ruth and her Negroni!  You can see the very professional waiter to her left, hair net as well.  When we arrived he immediately got out his little book and started taking our drink orders on an individual basis which is something we shouldn't have to argue about.   This has been a problem in many restaurants as they want to group us on one check which does not work.  No problem here.

Georgia on the left and Liz on the right.  You can see the very large and extensive menu with many, man choices.

I think Georgia is having fun!

From the left Connie, Ruth, Anita and Cathy.

This is a large, new high end restaurant where lots of money has been spent setting it up.  A combination restaurant and sports bar.  Lots of well trained staff as well.

Not very busy at 1pm when it opens but by the time we left it was filling up.  A couple of parties of well dressed Nationals came in for a group function.  We felt under dressed as the La Senoras are always " dressed to the nines!"

Prelunch chat.

Lovely decor and televisions everywhere.  I bet it gets noisy in the evening.

Ruth, Cathy and I decided to go oriental and order California rolls and this plated of tuna and octopus in a spicy sauce.  We shared three ways.

Anita had tacos....very good.

Connie only had one lonely taco!

Susie ordered what she thought was a small plate of shrimp!  Tempura in a spicy sauce and it was absolutely delicious!  She passed around tastes which is how I know.

Cathy ordered the Avocado roll.  They use a lot of cream cheese here in their rolls which can be a bit overpowering and flatten the flavor.

I ordered the crunch roll which had shrimp in it. Sharing is a good idea as one roll would be too much of one thing for one person.  In the end the combination of rolls and tuna/octopus was a good blend.

Ilene had a hamburger and she removed some of the bread as it was too big.

Both Georgia and Liz ordered salmon over rice with a white sauce.  The sauce was cottage cheese based and they ended up sending their meals back as they thought the sauce was off.  It came back with the sauce on the side which is a better idea anyway.  Later they were comped two fruit sherbets as an apology for the meal.  The restaurant went more than out of their way to make sure they were happy.

Liz with her salmon.

Looks good but I guess not.

This is my meal with all three items on the plate.  Ruth thought the california rolls were flat and I agree but with all three items it was fine.  There is a very good sushi restaurant next to the RV park called Mariscos El Parmar and it has the best I've ever eaten so it's hard to beat as a comparison.  The waiter did ask Ruth if she wanted to take the leftovers home and when she said no he asked why.  She explained that she didn't enjoy the rolls.  He was interested and said they welcome feedback on the meals.  Refreshing!

Marion is looking suspiciously at her fish and chips.  Both she, and Marilyn ordered the same thing and said that there was way too much tempura and it was over crunchy but....the fries were good!
A big smile from Marilyn!

Sandi had stuffed shrimp and it was very good.

After lunch chat.

All in all it was a good experience.  12 ladies with different orders that came out in a timely manner.  Checks were delivered promptly, service was excellent and it was a fun, relaxing lunch.  I would return.

Most of us wandered to the back of the plaza to the Fresh Market.  It has become a local favorite in the short time it has been open. The produce is perfect and varied.  Many items that can't be found anywhere else can be found here.

Shelves are stocked and it's very relaxing place to browse.

Another good ladies lunch and next week our annual trek to an old favorite " Angelina's Kitchen."

La Marina Yacht and tennis club...Fermin's Restaurant for Ladies lunch.

Yesterday's ladies lunch was very pleasant experience.  The La Marina restaurant is within walking distance for many of us and since it was, and usually is, a lovely day here in Mazatlan a walk was in order.  This restaurant has been a favorite go to for many for many years.  Funny enough Eric and I have never eaten there.  They have specials for lunch and dinner most days of the week and the prices are more than reasonable.  Our ladies lunch group have never eaten here and it turned out to be a winner!  Yesterday was the first day of carnival which lasts for six days and we wanted to stay close to home.

There were eight of us yesterday and although they don't take reservations for breakfast or lunch we had no trouble finding a big table to sit together.  A round table is nice as we can easily chat.

The La Marina condominiums are one of the first complexes as this end of town.  Located at the end of a dead end street it is very quiet.

You can see that it's a popular place for lunch. It is open air on the second floor and looks over the parking lot.  The complex is on the beach and has ocean views from the condominium units.

This is our waiter and what a charming man he is.  He took each order and shook hands with many of the ladies and had them all smiling.  Efficient and funny as well!

Here he's discussing lunch with Sandi.  The special on Thursdays is a prime rib sandwich for 190 pesos which includes a soft drink or a beer or a turkey sandwich with real turkery for 180 pesos with a a soft drink or a beer.  One of the best bargains in Mazatlan.

Mar Mabel (to differentiate from her sister in law who is also a Marilyn!)  had the turkey sandwich and asked for the gravy on the side.

Connie ordered the BLT and the waiter smiled and gave her the " gringo salsa " which is funny because the Mexican people are also fond of ketchup.

Marilyn had the Club sandwich and it was huge for 170 pesos.  She said it was delicious.

Close up of the turkey sandwich.

Cathy and I had the prime rib sandwich and it was also delicious and....I ate the whole thing!  Very tasty, piping hot mashed potatoes with tender beef...yummy.  This was one of my favorite lunches this season.

Cathy and Sandi enjoying their lunch.

Pat and Marilyn. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their food.  Compliments to the chef!!!  This is not fancy food but it is good food cooked and presented well.

My selfie!

Looking down from the second floor into the lobby.  I'll bet there are a few children and even adults who'd like to take a swing at that pinata!

We arrived at noon and with their prompt service we were done eating by shortly after 1pm.  We chatted a bit and then got up to pay.  They have a young lady with a cash box at the door of the restaurant and we just told her what we had, paid and left a tip.  Easy peasey!  This was one of the most relaxing enjoyable lunches for the ladies and now we could just wander off home.  A couple of us drove but parking is easy here so that was no problem either.  Mazatlan has become so busy that lunch can sometimes be a bit stressful but this was not one of those times.  A great restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner and Eric and I will have to come here.  Apparently the Sunday brunch is a real winner.
