Yuma Az to Alamo, NV

Today we were up at 6am in preparation for our day's travel.  We picked up coffee in the lobby and I had homemade muffins from Mazatlan along with fruit to eat.  The continental breakfast at the Ramada is sparse just like the Howard Johnson. I could go on and on but you get the idea.

A longish day today and 6 hours usually means eight.

Last night we ate at the Saigon Pho restaurant  across the street from the hotel.  Vietnamese cuisine which I like and Eric has never eaten.  Quiet in the restaurant and although they were short staffed everything turned out well.  An excellent dinner which we both enjoyed.

On the road by 7am.
So many crops growing in Yuma.  Good soil, water and sunshine.
Heading north on Hwy 95.
Barley already heading up.
The Yuma proving ground.
How pretty is that..we just love this country.  Well..not enough to winter here but we love the drive.

Coming into Quartzsite.  A huge area for boon dockers. We spent 10 days here back in 2009 and darn near froze to death.  If you're  not hooked up to power you need a propane heater.  We bought one the next year.

Heading up to Parker.
It's Sunday so not much traffic.  I'd planned the trip so we'd go through Las Vegas on a Sunday.

The rail bridge at Parker.

Here we've come from Parker and will turn right at Vidal Junction.   Up ahead a California agricultural check point.
Heading north.
I wonder how many pictures I've taken of the "ribbon candy" highway. It rolls up and down through the washes and vehicles disappear and then pop up.
More interesting rock formations.
Here we're on 95 north of Needles California heading to Las Vegas.  Two lane road until you get to Nevada.  We fueled up in Parker AZ because fuel is a couple dollars more a gallon in California.

Nevada and the highway is much  better.
Searchlight.  Speed here is 25mph and people actually do 25 as its easy to get a ticket here.
The Joshua trees appear.  The yucca were blooming but I couldn't get a photo.
Heading down from Searchlight to Las Vegas.
Coming to the turn into Las Vegas.  We haven't drive through here heading north since 2020 so we anticipate changes.
In we go..most of the way Eric stays in the middle lane while everyone bobs and weaves around him.
I used my phone for navigation but even though there was lots of road work the signage got Eric through.  Easy to make a mistake when everything is constantly changing.
We stopped at the Love's station at the Junction of I 15 and 95 north and had lunch.
Look at the rock formations.
Blue sky's,  clouds, sunshine and beautiful scenery.

There must have been lots of rain this winter as the desert is green.
The white mounds are the Las Vegas landfill.  A long way to drag garbage.   We got stuck behind a huge truck filled with garbage coming out of Vegas...what a smell!!!

So very beautiful.
Green, green and more green.

We are at the Alamo Inn for one night.  A very old dated motel but there is not much to cho3se from in Alamo.  We've  stayed in other rooms here and this one isn't bad.
Big room with all the amenities.  I feel like I'm back in the 70's😂
Eric was busy changing windshield wipers when we arrived.. our wipers were in sad shape and it could rain up ahead.
Tomorrow we are off to Jackpot Nevada and the Barton's Club 93 casino.  We stayed there in November on the way south.  Good price, not too busy and a restaurant.
So all in all a good and...Las Vegas is behind us.

    1. No buffet at Bartons Club anymore but I think Cactus Pete's still has one.
