Alamo, NV to Jackpot, NV our favorite leg of the journey

Well this is today's journey.  We are currently in Jackpot  Nevada at the Barton's Club 93 casino and hotel.  The wifi is crap so I'm on cell data. We left Alamo this morning around 7:30 am.  No restaurant there so I brought stuff for breakfast and leftovers from Yuma for dinner last night.

We left Yuma on Sunday morning and had been enjoying too warm temperatures well into the high in the 30's...we're now in Jackpot and it's freaking freezing.  Too hot, too cold ..can't win.😉
Beautiful morning when we left Alamo.
Green in this area.  Lots of water.
Just down the road aways and a hard left to head west and then north.

If you have water it's green.  A hay crop already growing.

We're just about to enter the White water narrows.

The rock formations are stunning.  Every time we pass through we are amazed.

Getting higher.  In Mazatlan we were at sea level.
As we rise Junipers start to appear.  We are heading up to Ely, Nevada which is at 7000 ft.
Heading due north on cruise control.  Very quiet and hardly any traffic...😊
It's not in the 30's anymore!
Coming into Lund.
No leaves on the trees here yet.  Too high and too cold.
The cows are grazing.  Still lots of hay stacked along the way.
The Lund fuel, food and motel stop
Driving towards Ely and snow appears.

White pine and Juniper.
Murray Summit coming into Ely....7300 ft.
Still lots of snow as we wind our way in.

Coming down into the town of Ely.
The Love's fuel stop...diesel at $4.23...the farther north we go the cheaper it gets..Mexico is still the most expensive.
Downtown Ely.  We always liked to stay here in the RV...if it wasn't too cold.

Coming into McGill just nothing of Ely.
Another mining town that has a lot of history. The main street is hugely sloped from right to left.
An old mining building
Onward.  The air is clear and clean and the colors in the photos are so pristine.

Left for Ely.
What is that?
It's rain!  We haven't seen rain for six months..this wants to be snow.

Currie is up ahead and we can pull off for lunch.
Goshute which is part of Currie is now full of FedEx trucks.
Our view at lunch.
Lunch.

Eric remarked..."why would Currie even be here?" Well..this is why.

Still a few people living here and even some cows.
Just past Currie and the FedEx truck and a car pull over...?
Now a police car with flashing lights is coming at us...?
He comes close and points to pull over..stops .. points to roll down the window and says there's a wide load coming..we waited about ten minutes and it showed up.
Eric said it was a bucket for a mine.  All very odd.
Lots of snow on the  mountains.
An odd strip of white ground in the distance, some sort of strange soil.
Just about into Wells.
Lots of blowing snow here in the winter and it piles up along the snow fence.
Wells, Nevada which is a cross roads.  Lots of trucks pass through and stop for fuel.   And there are brothels here too.😉
On to Jackpot.
Still high here.
Huge deer migration in this area.  This is a deer overpass.  The highway has tall fences on either side.
The rock formations are amazing.

So pretty.

Jackpot.   Cactus Pete's casino and RV park where we used to stop with the RV.
Barton's 93 casino where we are stopped for the night.  Good price, nice rooms and a restaurant.  We've had dinner and are tucked in for the night.  An all around good day.

Well...except our damaged fender I was coming loose and flapping so Eric ha do get the tools out and remove it.

Tomorrow we are on to Pendleton Oregon.
Thanks for riding along😊
