Agatha for Ladies Lunch

Yesterday we were a small group of six which is nice.  Started out with eight but stomach upset claimed two of us. Some had other engagements and some said they'd eaten out too much this week!  Agatha is an upscale restaurant on the south end of Gaviotis in the Golden Zone.  Susie, Jeannette and I traveled down on the bus.  We got off at Panama and walked south from there.  The streets are busy withl ots of tourists in town for Carnival which starts today and runs for six days.  Most of us will stay out in the Cerritos area to avoid the crowds.

Agatha opens at 1pm and we had a reservation which we didn't need as it wasn't busy.  I think it's polite to let the restaurant know we're coming when it's quiet so they are properly staffed.

Jeannette and Susie going in to meet Connie, Marilyn and Liz.

Seated on the outside covered patio.  The cold wind has been a problem lately but yesterday it was nice.  Lots of the tourist fun buses going by along with quads, taxis, pulmonias and aurigas (red trucks).

The sushi part of the menu.  I ordered the Tuna spicy roll and a shrimp Nigiri.

Lots to chose from.

Drinks first.  Mine is a Gaillo non alcoholic and refreshing with pineapple, ginger syrup, lime and soda...yum.

Susie loves the dark beer and this one is really dark!

Lots of room outside as well as in.  If you pull up pictures of the restaurant with reviews it is always full in the evening.  Quite popular.  The decor is clean and sharp, the staff professional and the food is good.

The food arrived all together.  To start we had been served a small in house fresh bread with a tapenade.  The tapenade had olives, garlic and a good olive oil.  Delicious.

Jeannette and Liz had crab cakes which are very good.  I can attest as I've had them before.

Marilyn had clam chowder in a bread bowl.  Very good but she said the one that Fish restaurant serves is better.  Fish is well known for their clam chowder which is hard to beat.  However, I'd stack our friend Manny's clam chowder up against both of them any day of the week.

Spring rolls and an eel Nigiri for Susie.

Susie's lunch.

My spicy tuna roll which was good but now that I've eaten sushi at El Parmar by the Las Jaibas RV park all sushi pales in comparison!  Good at Agatha though.  The shrimp Nigiri was only one piece and overpriced at 60 pesos in my mind.

Egg roll and shrimp Nigiri.  Somehow I missed the picture of Connie's tuna tostada which had a good sized portion of tuna.  She wasn't sure about it until she started eating but then she ate it all.

I got this off Agatha's site.  Tuna tostada...there is a hard taco shell hiding underneath.

All in all it was a good lunch.  The waitress was a bit slow but she had tables to serve inside and out.  The food was good...no complaints although the checks were a bit slow to arrive.  Minor details and always a good place to eat!
