Mariscos Piquillas for Ladies Lunch..another winner!

Yesterday we were off to a restaurant that is new to us and close to the Marina.  A very small restaurant tucked into the end of a small line of businesses and close to Rin Rin pizza.  I had seen this restaurant reviewed on the local Foodies site and thought it was worth a try.  I tried calling for a reservation but got no answer so I used their messaging system and it worked perfectly.

Jeannette, Susie, Cathy, Sandi, Chantal and I ready to hop on the bus.  We caught the Pradera which turns the corner at the circle by the gas station so that we didn't have to cross 4 lanes of traffic.

Mariscos Piquilla opens at noon and as we were a bit early we waited in the sunshine.  We were joined by Connie, Marilyn, Liz, Chris, Ruth and Diane.  A big group!

We were all seated together inside although we could have gone outside as well.  Too cold! This one with Liz on the front left and...

...this one with me.

We all ordered drinks which came in short order and Chantal started off with a cup of very spicy soup. Levanta Muertos 70 pesos.

Ruth and I ordered together and started with a mixed seafood salad called La Especial 90 pesos.  Very good.

The menu in Spanish.  I spoke to a fluent English speaking young lady who explained they were revamping their menu and that in a week or so it would be in Spanish or English.  Most of us just used to Google translate to figure it out...no problem!

Lots of shrimp tacos were ordered and they were very tasty with a light batter on them.  80 pesos.

The meals came out quickly and here almost everyone is eating.

Chris had fish and chips.  She said there was lots of fish under the light batter and she had to take some home.  Very good! 220 pesos.

Chantal also had the seafood salad and Papas trufadas which were a thin french fry with parmesan cheese...very tasty and 90 pesos. We tasted and she couldn't finish them all!

Lots of crab cakes ordered as well 220 pesos and very good.  Ruth and I shared this as well.

No complaints at all and everyone happily eating and chatting.

This young woman was shelling shrimp in the kitchen and it always amazes me how quick the Mexican people can do this.  The shrimp had been parboiled and likely the broth was kept to flavor a soup.  I said " mas rapido" to her and she just smiled.

After we'd eaten I was still feeling a bit peckish and thought dessert was in order as well.  Flan for Ruth and I.  Liz ordered one as well and it was yummy!  95 pesos.

Ruth and I happily eating dessert.

Lunch was done quickly as the service was very quick.  We were the only ones in the restaurant but as I'd reserved they were prepared for us.  They were also making things ahead of time for later when people would drop in for a drink and a tasty snack.

Each bill was accurate and easily handled by our efficient young waiter whether we paid by machine or in pesos.

The final photo of the day showing all the full, happy diners.

A very positive experience and thumbs up to Mariscos Piquillas for a very good lunch.

Next week we are off to an old favorite " Agatha" in the Golden Zone.
