New Years Day 2017

New Year’s Eve was a non event at our place…but that is not an unusual thing!  We were invited to an appy party gathering at the front of the park that started at 8pm but that didn’t happen for us.  It was a grey showery day on New Year’s Eve and by 8pm we’d had happy hour together and then dinner and we were both ready for TV and bed.   About 16 people gathered up front and they even stayed up until midnight….good for them.

Fred and Marion came by to wish a Happy New year this morning and they were all bright eyed and bushytailed as usual!  I don’t know how they are always seem so perky.  Fred gets up just after daybreak and heads off in his truck to go for a walk or go fishing and then he stayed up until midnight on New Year’s eve….makes us look like wusses!  Marion is always bopping out somewhere and always has a smile on her face and never even looks tired.   I might also mention that Fred looks 60 but he is actually over 80!

Today it was warm and sunny and time to hit the beach in the afternoon.  The Mexican holidayers were still out in full force and enjoying themselves.

These young guys were playing soccer.

The aftermath of last nights fireworks on the beach.  The beach takes more of a beating than usual at Christmas time.  Garbage everywhere is a huge problem in Mexico and something I will never get used to.

This old black lab spends his time retrieving a tennis ball from the ocean.  He doesn’t bother anyone and drops the ball and lets it roll back into the water.  Sometimes a passerby will throw it out for him but he won’t drop the ball if he’s got it in his mouth….at least not until you’ve passed by!

Another beautiful ocean view.  When you sit and look at the water and hear the crashing of the waves it is the most relaxing thing ever.  Good for the soul.

Today the water was calm enough that even I got in for a swim.  Later while I sit and relax after our swims Eric walks the beach south and….

then north.

I walked up to meet Eric and got him to take my picture so that you all know that I actually go to the beach.

There was a dark spot out in the water that looked like a buoy for a boat but it was actually….

Papa John and now that he’s finished his swim he’s coming ashore.  He swims straight out, does some laps and then comes in.  He does this once or twice a day unless it’s really rough.  That will keep you in shape.

So all in all a good start to a new year and another beautiful day in Mexico.

Happy New Year all!
