Yuma, Az

We arrived in Yuma yesterday afternoon and are parked in the Arizona Sands Park.  We can use Passport America here and it is central enough for us to get things done.  The drive from Why, Az to Yuma was not too long but it was windy.  We tried to stop in Tachna for lunch but there was a huge dust storm and we moved on.

We picked up a few things at Wal Mart today and Eric got an oil change for the truck as it is much cheaper in the USA than Canada.  It is about 1/2 the price here but it was a long process.  I think they are used to snowbirds having nothing but time, and also nothing to do so it took….lots of time.  But it is done!

I also looked at cameras at Wal Mart as I am in a bind with my Panasonic camera in need of repairs.  A hard decision to make in a short amount of time and I really need a camera for the blog.  As well we will be spending time with family that we haven’t seen in a long time when we fly north to Vancouver for Eric’s mother’s funeral on Wednesday and I want to take pictures.  I have a hard time buying anything without adequate research!  Added stress.

It is hot here but cooling off over night so the air conditioner doesn’t have to run after 6pm.  Last year when we left the rig here to fly to Pittsburgh for a family visit with our daughter Krista and family we left the windows cracked and the air conditioner off.  Big, Big, Big mistake!  There was a huge dust storm while we were gone and the inside of the rig was a mess when we got back.  This time….windows tightly closed and ….air conditioner on at a reasonable temp.  It will get up into the high 90’s while we are away.  Live and learn!

Tomorrow we will try to finish up as many chores as possible and then get ready to fly out on Wednesday.
