A quiet day Sunday and then we drive home Monday.

Our whirlwind week in Rincon was over and it was time to rest up before we drove back to Mazatlan.   This was our eighth day and we’ve been on the road every day but Wednesday.  Ian and Linda have seen a bit a Mexico and will now have the last ten days of their vacation to themselves in Rincon.

I did a little shopping on Sunday with Linda and she managed to find a couple of “objets d’ Mexican art” for us to take back to Kelowna for her.  You can’t bring much back on the plane and since we have the RV she was able to send things back with us.

Sunday night Eric and I wandered up the street for dinner and ate at Tonita I again.  Mexican spaghetti for Eric and Mexican plate for me.  In bed early.

Sunday morning we were up early, packed up, said goodbyes and on the road by 8:00.

I snapped a quick picture as we drove up the street and here are Paulette and Carl waving Bye!  Nice people.

We could see the market being set up from the window of our room.  Huge amount of vendors and lots to buy every Monday.

Left to Tepic or right to Puerto Vallarta….left for us.

Eric had decided to head back to Mazatlan on Mex 200 and then turn at Las Varas onto Carretera Las Varas  San Blas north to San Blas and then take highway 74 back to Mex 15 (free road) which comes out just north of Tepic and then north home to Mazatlan.  We’d come down 74 and then south on Carretera Las Varas San Blas on the bike but wouldn’t bring the 5th wheel that way as we consider it too narrow and treed for our rig as it is maximum height and maximum width.    Each to their own.

The trip is about 245 miles.

We turned left at Las Varas and the children were heading to school.  Sorry dirty windows for pictures today.

Carretera Las Varas San Blas which heads north along the coast.

Highway 74 from San Blas back to Mex 15 and we had to pull off to let this big truck and trailer get by.  Lucky there was somewhere to pull over and I don’t know what would happen if you were hauling an RV and met him farther up where it is even narrower.  No where to go!

We stopped again at El Mil just north of Rosamorada at the Pemex station and hauled out our lawn chairs for lunch.  A quiet stop.

Onward and not many pictures.

Coming through Esquinapa and there was a gravel truck on the right which made it hard for the bus to squeak through.  The only way to come if you are on the free road.  On the toll road you bypass Esquinapa.

A nice green bale of hay and he is going to try and stuff it in the back of his car.  Hope the horse or cow appreciates it!

Eric spied these guys up on the new hydro transmission line towers when we were between Villa Union and Mazatlan.  Bet they don’t have any safety gear!  That is a long, long way up.

We were back in the park by 3:30 and happy to be home.  We unloaded and I started putting things away and Eric was helping.  He asked “ where are the hanging clothes?”   %^&&*(!!!!! we forgot them in the hanging wardrobe in the room at Don Pepe’s.   I did the final check and didn’t look in the closet.  Eric was going to do another check but didn’t so ….Panic….now what.  Eric called Don Pepe’s and they said they’d check the room and to call them back in ten minutes.  Eric called back and they had them so he said to give them to Ian and we’d try to figure out what to do.

We knew there were people in Don Pepe’s who were coming back to Mazatlan but it turns out they already came back on Sunday.  We hope to find someone to bring them back for us but if not Ian and Linda will try and find room in their luggage to bring them back to Kelowna and we’ll pick them up on the way home.  A minor but irritating glitch.

All in all the trip was good but we are glad to be back in the rig.  Eric is exhausted from all the driving and we have a goodbye appetizer party tonight.  Frank and Sandi are leaving Wednesday and Gunter/Regina and Max/Ursula are leaving on Thursday.  The park is starting to empty out.

  1. We drove Mex 200 from San Blas all the way to Lazaro Cardinas before turning off towards Patzcuaro. The rig was new then and we lost a coat of paint brushing past all those trees!

When you are used to traveling in an RV it is easy to forget that you have to load and unload clothes every stop. I hope you get your clothes back.

  3. Hi Val:
Thanks for your kind offer I didn't see your comment until today (Wednesday) and the park owner didn't tell me you'd sent an email. Eric's brother is going to send the clothes by MailPac from La Penita this morning and hopefully that will work out. Thanks anyhow.
