Every Thursday night the ladies from the park head down to Cerritos and the Last Drop Restaurant. We have a couple of drinks, eat dinner and then we play bingo. Some ladies go in vehicles, some take the bus and sometimes we take a red truck. It’s only about 2 miles north of the park so not too far to go.
This time it was a red truck because he was waiting at the gate. 10 pesos each which is a deal for him because he doesn’t have to take us very far.
The Last Drop now hosts bingo night and has one of their waiters do the bingo calling. The Cerritos trailer park used to run it but they have given it up. Now they don’t even come and we wonder why.
Heading in where they have a long table all set up for us. Anyone who is in the restaurant can play if they want.
This is the very friendly Alejandro who takes our drink and food orders. A nice young man who has made a point of learning all our names. I took this picture of him when he was telling me they were out of Pacifico beer. I didn’t believe him and he said “ Is this the face of a liar?” You can always find Pacifico lite but Pacifico is not so plentiful….odd considering they brew it here in Mazatlan. So….I ordered a lite.
This is Ishmael who calls the bingo.
The owner of the Last Drop who decided to give us all a 20 % discount card.
It says Mondays only but he actually meant Thursdays….ah Mexico!
Ishmael is setting up to get started.
Discussing bingo?
Ishmael calls “ Daubers up” and “Are you ready to party Bingo style?” He is quite funny and actually seems to enjoy his newfound career! A very nice young man who is very fluent in English.
Connie wins the first game. We pay 50 pesos for three cards and play 4 games on each card. The pot starts at about 150 pesos for a win and climbs to 500 for the last game (a blackout) if there are a lot of people playing. We play three times so 12 games total. How exhausting! The worst part is the very uncomfortable, straight backed wood chairs. Very uncomfortable.
When you win Ishmael takes the card and carefully checks to make sure you haven’t made a mistake. Then when you get your money you get his winners cry of …”Winner Winner Chicken Dinner…and your money!”
My big problem is actually daubing all the numbers and not missing any.
We had to delay a game start for a bathroom break. Ishmael sent Diane to the Men’s bathroom because the Women’s was busy but then he teased her by pointing out she was in the Men’s.
That’s Diane with the smile….a good sport.
That’s Eddie getting a 500 peso win. She said she’s played bingo at home and never won but here she has won a number of times. Good for her. Jeri to her right won a few times and then was getting harassed for being too lucky. Eddie had her daughter and 15 year old grand daughter who are visiting from Fort St. John, B.C. with her. It must have been really thrilling for the grand daughter to play bingo with us…..not!
We were all finished eating, drinking and playing bingo by 8:30 pm and on our way home. Another red truck was waiting and off we went home. Another big day in paradise!
