Off on a road trip tomorrow.

Eric and I have been talking about going south for a week on the bike for a change of scenery for a while now.  Eric hasn’t been feeling well since we got here and his foot has been an issue as well.  We went to the Wal Mart about 10 days ago to get a refill of antibiotics for his stomach and they wouldn’t do it unless he saw the doctor who was attached to the Pharmacia.  Cost 30 peso’s or about $2.40.  The doctor spoke very little English and we speak very little Spanish but we did manage to explain what was going on.  Eric has stomach issues that always ramp up when we get to Mexico and last year Dr. Olalde prescribed an antibiotic that really helped and we wanted to try that again.  This doctor agreed but also checked his blood pressure, weight, temperature and listened to his stomach.  Upon listening she said “Mucho gjjajlarhekreh or lots of noise!”  So 7 days of antibiotics, 3 days of  probiotics that are not destroyed by antibiotics and some stomach pain medication for three days as well.  Oh and no dairy or beer either!  Uh oh!  She walked us back to the Pharmacia and we bought the medication and then they refunded our 30 peso’s. Well Eric has finished the medication, cheated on the beer part and is now feeling good so off we go on a road trip.

We will head south to the Rincon/Los de Marcos area and get a room.  We will likely stay at Tlaquepaque Villas where we have stayed before.  We have brand new silicone ear plugs so we should be able to weather any Mexican or Gringo parties that crop up!  We will check out Rincon on the bike as we will likely head south at the end of February to meet up with Eric’s brother Ian and his wife Linda.  We could take the Rig down but it seems like a big pain in the rump!  I will post the blog while we are away so stay tuned!

P.S. – I got one lower bag on the bike to pack all my stuff and it is all crammed in.  Even my shoes!

  1. Too bad about Eric's stomach, that must be a drag! Norma went to a farmacia doctor in Oaxaca last year for an ear infection. One of the pharmacists went with her to translate. Pretty good deal!
