A ride to San Ignacio with friends.

Have you noticed how quiet the blog has been?  Well, there’s a reason for that and it’s a really good one!  The weather has been absolutely beautiful and we have been spending every afternoon at the beach.  The warm temperatures and warm ocean water have lulled us into a coma.  However….today we were off on a road trip.

Frank asked us if we’d like to go up to San Ignacio and we said sure.  We were up there a couple of weeks ago by ourselves but it is nice to go with someone else.

Marilyn, Sandi, Dennis and Frank in the main square in San Ignacio.  It was smoking hot today and it was nice to for them to get out of the Jeep and us to get off the bike and stand in the shade.

Luckily the nice restaurant just off the square was open and we could have a good meal.  I have blogged this restaurant a few times but it always bears repeating.  It is attached to a very large performing arts theatre in Constitution Square.  Today the door was open and and I took a few more pictures while we waited for lunch.

These very beautiful murals are on all the walls of the hall.

Looking back out to the entrance and the restaurant and the street.

The murals are so real you could walk right into them.

Great perspective and a walk to the huge Church on the hill.

The restaurant is through the arch and to the right.

A nice appetizer while we waited.

P1050484

Once again the little tiny wee beers!  Chiquita's.

The two ladies in the restaurant were happy to see us and we all had fun trying to figure out what we should have for lunch.  They spoke no English and we only speak a little Spanish but we managed.  Chicken, shrimp or beef with rice and salad….perfect.

The walls of the restaurant also have murals. P1050486

P1050498  This sweet little girl was having lunch with her Mom who was also our waitress.    I asked her…cuántos años  and she said…cinco  …. (How old….five!)  Sandi had a little bag of dulce or candy for her.  A happy little girl.

And now for a nice walk up the street while our lunch digests.

I tried to get a picture of this little girl but she was camera shy.  Her mother captured her inside the store and let me take her picture but she wasn’t very happy about it!  Again Sandi cheered her up with a little bag of fruit snacks!

The streets were full of school children on their way home from school.  They were very amused by the “Gringos” on the sidewalks and the girls did a lot of giggling ….just the same as at home.   I don’t think they get many tourists in San Ignacio but they are all very friendly and polite even if they think we are funny.  Everywhere we travel I smile and wave and the local people are always smiling and waving as well.  Nice!

P1050504

This bike was parked on the sidewalk.  What is it….who knows.   It has been customized Mexican style and it even had a Stihl chainsaw sticker on the rear fender!   Funny.

Back down the street to the square.

P1050499

Big Red was still waiting for us in the square (tucked in between those two trucks) and it was time to head home….hot, hot, hot!

P1050507

I did a quick turn around as we headed out of town and took this picture behind me… can you recognize the face on the right?

P1050508

Making bricks just outside of Coyotitan.

Both coming into Coyotitan and coming back there was a group of tree trimming workers who were shouting and waving at us.  They love the motorcycle.  We waved too!

Downtown Coyotitan and this foal is grazing at the edge of the road….that’s the Jeep coming up behind us.

P1050511 This riding stable is just north of Mazatlan on the free road on our way home.  Very neat and well kept and it always catches my eye.

Another good day.
