A little shopping, a little packing, a little bowling and rainy, windy weather!

Friday afternoon Eric and I hopped the bus and headed down to the tent market that is in town.  Ordinarily I wouldn't encourage Eric to go shopping but since the wares they had for sale were so nice I thought he should have a look.  We wandered through and I picked up a nice Mexican blouse and then we had a look at the Panama hats.  The vendor wanted 200 peso's (about 18 Canadian dollors) for a hat that can cost up to $200.00 in the U.S.  They are made in Ecuador and are great for the Mexican sun.  Eric picked up one that ( I think ) looks great.

We spent yesterday and today packing up in preparation for our move on Tuesday.  We had hoped the toll road would be open but talks between the protestors and the government have broken down .   We got a comment on the blog from Carol and Richard (from Vancouver) that they made it to La Cruz on the toll road and then had to cross over to the Libre and finish the journey to Culican that way.  Just another little glitch!  You just have to roll with it!

The weather turned rainy and windy yesterday so swimming has died down although Eric did make a brief attempt this afternoon.  Over night the wind was intense and our Starchoice dish blew over.  For some reason Eric had not weighted it down and over it went.   Broke the LNB arm and broke the edge of the dish.  We thought we were out of TV but some duck tape and we are now up and running again although we will need a new dish.

Betty and I walked up to Cerritos this morning for some exercise and a bite to eat.  I had wanted to pick up some coffee from the "Looney Bean" as we were almost out of the coffee I brought with me.  85 pesos for a pound of Chihuahua bold which is just over $7 Canadian.  Really good coffee!  The walk with Betty was nice, good girl talk!
I went over to Pat and Jack's for the last Wii bowling extravaganza this afternoon it was great fun.  Not as many people as earlier in the season but still a good turnout.  Pat and Jack have been really gracious with the whole Wii bowling thing and I've really enjoyed their company while we've been here.   Here is a shot of Pat's wall of fame!

 I was the defending champion of the bowling / champagne trophy so I was in a tough spot!  When we got to the end of it all with Sandi (filling in for Diane who left today) and I tied for first.  So, what were we to do!  Drink the bottle together or battle it out in a three frame playoff.  Three frame playoff it was and guess what ....." Sandi a.k.a as DIANE" whipped my butt.  She won the bottle of champagne.  Boohoo!  Oh well there is always next year.

The whole shooting incident in the park has certainly been the main topic of conversation lately.   Yves Guay who was shot got out of the hospital today and is back in the park.

He is now parked a few spots down from us with his wife Sharon now as his and another rig (B. B. Bob! and Donna ) moved forward after the incident.  Most people have talked this thing to death.  Why did it happen?  Why were these people targeted?  Why didn't the thieves go to the rig across from him where the guy actually had his door open and was watching TV?   The criminals left their vehicle at the front of the park with one guy watching the night watchman/garbageman/gardener and then walked to the back of the park to commit their crime.  When the whole thing failed they ran to the front of the park to escape.  It is a long way!  Was it random, unlikely, why did they pick them, who knows!  The likely reason is that they wanted the Guay's black SUV.  Will most of the people in the park stop coming to Mexico, probably not!

This morning all of Sam's buddies from Winnipeg showed up on their Harley's.  They are heading to a buddies wedding in Puerto Vallarta on the 10th of March.  They had the bikes shipped to Phoenix and then began their ride south.  One of the riders had an accident on the interstate in Phoenix and totalled his Harley.  He was banged up but is okay.  Rented a truck to drive and off they went.  They road all the way from Hermisillo to Mazatlan in one day and arrived here last night.  That is a really long way!  Sam is going to ride with them to Rincon and then come back today.  Or so he says!  Rita is skeptical!

The packing is done and tomorrow we start to head north, if only a little bit.  I think we are ready to go and since we move slowly we won't be home until April anyhow.
