7:50 and we were on the road. Decent night even with all the traffic. If we come this way again there are more choices for motels.
We head towards Portland.
First up a huge grain elevator.
Swinging bridge on the Columbia River.
The Dalles overflow on the dam.
Pedestrian and bicycle walkway.
And....the rain starts as we get close to Portland.
As we get closer to the turnoff you stay in the left lane and when you get on move left again or you'll exit. We're on the 205 which bypasses Portland and it really starts to pound.
Low visibility!
On I5 heading south and it's still raining.
Let's go west it's sunny over there.
Manicured and completely clean of cow shit so it's probably a field being grown for seed.
The weather has cleared up and we leave I5 for Drain and down to Reedsport on the 101.
Gorgeous fall color.
A great big bridal shop in Drain which is a tiny town.
Drain.
Now that's a postcard!
The Umpqua River.
Downtown Reedsport just before the 101 where we head south to Connie and Manny's in Coos Bay.
Huge beautiful trees and all Eric sees is lumber!
Off in the distance the dunes appear. A huge tourist attraction for quads.
North Bend bridge.
Stay in the left lane for Coos Bay.
Beautiful old buildings.
We rolled into Connie and Manny's around 2;30 so a lot quicker than the day before even with all the rain. Manny backed Eric and the trailer in and we're parked for a couple of days.
This is Connie and Manny's new puppy Crunchy. A bunch of dogs were rescued by animal control from a homeless camp and this is one of them. Named when they got her after a Taco Bell meal!
On the couch you can see Mitzi their old chihuahua sitting next to Eric whom she likes. She's not well but she perked up when we arrived.
Mitzi isn't happy with the new addition to the family but you can see she has the preferred position on Manny's lap. To be honest although Crunchy has a huge amount of energy she's really well behaved for a dog not even a year old.
We spent the evening catching up and had beans slowed cooked by Manny over rice. Delicious with a salad and frozen dessert.
Today Eric left early with Manny to do "guy stuff" This evening Connie and I will do our usual haunted house for Halloween.
All is well!
