We visit the Shekinah Beach Club restaurant for ladies lunch.

Yesterday we were off to the Shekinah Beach club restaurant for lunch.  It's located where the Mar Rosa RV park used to be at the north end of the Golden Zone.  When the RV park closed  it stood empty for a number of years.  The word was that the children of the original owner couldn't decide how to divide up their inheritance!  It's located on beach front property so the land is very valuable and it took a long time to construct.  It's been open for a while to mixed reviews.  You can pay for a day pass which includes your food and drinks and use of the facilities.  Hot tub, pool, sauna etc.  A holistic beach club and spa.

The entrance is very grand with a huge tropical planting.

Coming in over the walkway there is water on each side.

I had made a reservation for 12 ladies and we were led into the restaurant area to be seated.  You can see that they have sand everywhere.

Indoor outdoor green carpet where you can play games.
12 ladies seated and me.  I miscounted and we had to add another table to accommodate 13..whoops😄

Diane, Ruth, Liz and Susie.

Mar, Monica,Cathy, Marilyn,Mary, and Steffi.

That's Marion standing next to Sandi.

There was a fair bit of confusion with the ordering as the waiter seemed confused by our separate bills but with a little help from Steffi who is completely fluent in Spanish we got sorted out.  There was also part of the menu that wasn't available until 12:40.  It would have helped if that was noted on the menu.

First up was the very popular shrimp and vegetable tempura.

Liz with her lunch.

Drinks were ordered and a tasty bread with herb cheese was provided as an appetizer.  A few photos are out of order....thanks Google!

More tempura and this is Sandi's.

Mar and her friend Monica ordered a margherita pizza and it was as delicious as it looks.

Tasty!

Marilyn and Cathy ordered the clam chowder in a bread bowl.  Mediocre and not many clams.

Cathy said it was okay,  just not great.  Fish restaurant is known for it clam chowder and that was the comparison.

Steffi had baja tacos....small but very good flavour.

Diane and Ruth shared a couple of things and I believe this is the tuna tostada. They also ordered a lobster roll which was a disappointment.

Marilyn's friend Mary had a shrimp taco....beautiful presentation.

Steffi's tacos.

My lunch was the last to come so I wandered out to take some photos.

Isn't this wood sea turtle amazing!

When my lunch came Ruth came to have a look.

Shrimp carpaccio in a spicy passion fruit sauce. It was surrounded by small red onion flowers, cucumbers and small pieces of passion fruit.  Better served as a shared appetizer but I enjoyed it as lunch.  The large hollow bowl is very shallow so it's not as large as it looks.  I did pass some around.

  Isn't that beautiful!

I was the last to finish up.

Mary and Sandi.
The pictures did not load in the order I picked so...here Ruth is ordering with help from the waiters.

I'm not sure how this carpet will stand up to the summer rains but...time will tell.

A look south from the very high deck over the beach.  Huge fill was brought in to raise everything up.  Sorry I missed the finger!😁

Looking north and the drop is quite high.

Mar and Monica.

Marilyn, Cathy, Mary and Monica, Diane and Mar in front overlooking the ocean.

Marilyn hamming it up!

Liz got a great photo of Sandi and Cathy.
Marion and Mar....bad girl put that finger down! 🤣 Sister in law Marilyn was taking the photo.

They even have swings for the big kids....Marion.

Pretty quiet but it has been cool lately.

Every venue needs a boat....right ?

Diane, Marion, Mar and Kathy.

Ruth and Marilyn look lovely.

So...what did we think?   Well it was really nice to see the venue.  It is very beautiful. The food is artfully presented with lots of choices from hamburgers to seafood, pizza and Asian.  Some was very good and some mediocre and all in the upper price range.  The drinks were very expensive as well.  We did expect high prices because of where we were and the service was a little disjointed at times but good and they were happy we came.  We all wondered whether the venue would survive and if there is enough demand for a relatively pricey day spa. Huge expense to build it but on the other hand the land is hugely valuable so I guess time will tell.  We were all glad that we came.

  1. Such great memories from when that was Mar Rosa RV Park. Wow, the cost to change that landscape must have been huge as much soil and sand that had to be hauled in to do it. Loved the wooden Sea Turtle and his necklace. SandyM
