Ruth and Jimmy celebrated their 50th at Bev’s house in El Cid. I don’t usually go out at night but Ruth is such a lovely person I made an extra effort! I don’t know Jimmy very well but that is common among us woman as we often don’t know each others spouses. So…some of us from the park drove and some of us took a red truck or Ariga. We had ordered a truck which was a no show so we hailed one on the street and we were away.
This is Jimmy and Ruth in Bev’s lovely home. The table is loaded with food and to the left you can see the beautiful flower arrangement that George and Sharen bought them. The vase is a wine glass….maybe a bird bath in it’s next life!
Ruth and Jimmy in front of the cake.
Earlier days….how were any of us ever that young. Seems like only yesterday!
There is a large patio at the back of Bev’s house which looks out onto the El Cid golf course. Our friends Manny & Connie along with their dogs, Ramona and Mitzi rent the upstairs apartment in Bev’s house.
Some people sat out on the lawn and their were hor’s d’ouvres everywhere to snack on.
That’s John chatting to Rocky.
You can see at the end of the patio that the band equipment is set up. Ruth cooked a turkey and hired a band for her party. What a gal!
I’d thought that we were having the band that played at the Chili Cook Off but it turns out this is a younger Mexican band.
Jeannette chats with Ruth and Sharen. In the back you can see some of the hired staff. We had a very capable waiter who etched the 50th anniversary wine glasses. When I asked what his day job was he said he was a glass etcher. Talented man. There were a couple of young woman helping him.
You can see across the golf course to houses on the other side. A pretty nice back yard!
Manny is chatting to Mike. Mike travels to Mazatlan in a small Class C motorhome and he just arrived at the beginning of January.
So the very funky band started playing and the feet hit the dance floor. Turns out they make their living playing “oldies” for gringos and they are very good. They don’t speak English but they sing it very well.
I think Ruth is trying to convince Jimmy to dance. He has a really bad knee so dancing isn’t easy.
That’s Fred and Marion “cutting a rug!” They danced all night and Fred put all the guys to shame. Fred will be 86 this year….isn’t that just amazing for a guy who looks 60. Give me some of those genes.
Frank and Sandi. Sandi had her jacket on as it was chilly but once she warmed up….off came the jacket.
The band was really rocking.
That’s Ruth from behind and she danced all night. She really has the music in her and you couldn’t have wiped the smile off her face.
Looking outside.
Marilyn and Bets. The band plays, people eat and some have a cocktail. Everyone is happy.
That’s Mike and Eddie dancing.
By now Ruth and Jimmy are wearing dopey wedding hats and are ready to cut the cake.
Does Ruth look happy or what!
A toast to the couple. You can’t get too sentimental with Ruth because she is so soft and cries easily.
The cake was delicious.
The night is still young and the dancing continues.
It was almost 9 o’clock by the time most of the people were leaving….gasp, gasp!!
Everyone had a great time and even I danced all night. Marilyn took a picture of me because she said she’d never seen me dancing. I said “ Well…I’ve never been anywhere that I would dance!”
I look a little pained in the picture but I was having a good time!
A fun time and a great party.
