Yuma, Az to Alamo, NV...and the Sunset Inn😬

We were up early today at 6am with a fairly long day ahead of us.  First breakfast...whoops...starts at 7 so we got coffee.  Packed up and back to the breakfast room...no one there so granola bars, packed up and hit the road at 7:30 am.

Leaving Yuma.

Heading down to 95 and north.  Cool today at 19c and cooler as we head north.

The barley is ready to cut and the wind has knocked it down...not good.
Really good soil here and lots of vegetable farming as well.

North to Quartzite and they've repaved...lovely.

Off in the distance all the BLM land where people camp in the desert for the winter and... some all year.  We tried 10 days back in 2009...not our cup of tea😁

Quartzite.

On to Parker and a fuel stop.

The Colorado River.  There were super, duper speed boats on trailers everywhere and lots of traffic.  Some big regatta or just guys out having fun?

Left for Vidal junction and the rolling "ribbon candy" highway. Lots of traffic both ways which is odd for a Sunday.

The agriculture check as we're heading into California for a bit. We had nothing😉

I love the rock.

A short stretch on I 40 west and now 95 North to Vegas but first...we wait for the train.

Two lanes in California and up ahead 4 lanes in Nevada.

Just past the turn to Laughlin we stopped at the rest stop for lunch.  Eric saw this guy come in with the right back side of his car flapping.  He got out his pink tape, put on rubber gloves and taped it back on..what happened ??? It's a BMW! The he was checking the soles of his shoes ...for?  Funny!

The rest stop is quite the art statement😁

The Joshua trees start to appear.

Searchlight on the way to Las Vegas.  Do 25mph or they'll nab you.

This is odd.  They are covering the perfectly good concrete with asphalt! One lane open and no one's around.

Coming through Las Vegas and we hold the middle lane while everyone bobs and weaves.  Sunday so not too bad.

Out of Vegas and up ahead our exit north to Alamo.

After the turn and not much traffic just the wide open highway.

Getting close Alamo we go through the Paranaghat wild life area.

We picked up fuel in Alamo and came back to the Sunset Inn.  We usually stay at the Alamo Inn which is not an upscale motel by any means but we like it.  Alamo is a half way point and the next stop would be in Lund which is another 170 miles so...Alamo it is.  We stopped here in our RV at Picketts RV park many times heading south and is a pretty area.
But...when I called a few weeks ago the Alamo Inn was full so I booked the Sunset Inn. Our friend Marilyn stayed here and she said it was odd.

We're in the Safari room😁

That's the rhino hunter having a beer🤣
All the rooms are themed..how about Ghost Busters?😂
The motel is an old construction camp that's been repurposed.  It has everything we need, beds, microwave, fridge etc.  Only $66..😁
I'll heat up lasagna that I have with us, muffins and fruit with us and tomorrow Jackpot NV.

A good day and got in at 3:30.
