We’ve been busy over the last week getting everything in order for our Saturday March 25th departure. Rig washed, truck washed, bike washed, inside cleaned up and everything stowed away.
Yesterday Eric moved the 5th wheel forward and loaded Big Red and the bicycle. Always a little dicey riding up the ramp but so far he hasn’t ended up in the kitchen.
Yesterday I was up early and got the laundry washed and hung out on the clothesline. Wouldn’t you know it….the sea fog rolled in.
The wind’s blowing but now all the clothes are damp. It wasn’t until about 2pm before the fog left and I could bring in the clothes.
This morning we were all packed up and ready to go by 9:15. Only going 400km today so we didn’t need a real early start. We’ll stay in a Pemex in Los Mochis tonight. Not many people parked out back now. Nice and quiet just the way we like it! If Semana Santa wasn’t coming up we’d have stayed another week and enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Unhooking the sewer, water and power and ready to go.
On the Cuota heading north. To the right is the exit to the Playas and Las Jaibas RV park. See you in November!
Mazatlan to the first toll and the road wasn’t great but….not horrible either.
Las Cruz de Elota and of course….corn.
Pink trees are starting to bloom.
Lots of big trees at the edge of the road as you get closer to Culiacan.
Go straight for the Culiacan bypass.
And then you can pay a toll!
No…it’s not a wreck on the highway they are just burning brush.
Pemex 7474 for fuel and lunch at km 45. The road from Culiacan has been awful up to this point. Our truck said we pumped 52 liters and the fuel pump said we got 56.8 liters! Four liters we paid for and didn’t get.
Heading north from km 45 and the road is atrocious. We would usually drive in the fast lane (which isn’t much better) but it’s too busy today. We smashed and banged and rolled and just got tendrized until the toll booth at km 130. I see from my last years notes that it was just the same last year only this year it’s worse. We have 80 lbs of air in our truck tires and we ride hard. North of km 130 the road was much better. Huge tolls for crappy roads.
More brush burning on the right of way.
Hmmm……I wonder how easy it would be to flip that. Oh well he could ride the quad that he has in the back I guess!
Close to Guasave and there are feed lots. This one has goats.
New sign I think.
Guasave has everything including a Home Depot.
Getting close to Los Mochis and we are by the tomato processing plant and the trucks are just rolling in. This picture is through a dirty window.
Look at them all.
Sinaloa is the tomato state.
Here it’s really stinky and they are composting manure and….tomatoes!
We left Maz at 9:30 am and got into Los Mochis at 3:30. The slides are out and it’s time for beer. There are a few other rigs here including the Big White Bus which left Las Jaibas just a bit before us.
Tomorrow is another day.
