So today we were up around 6:30 am. I was off for a short walk before breakfast and then it was time to pack up. Not too much to do and on the road by 9am. Only 300km’s to go today so no hurry.
Heading up the road out of Miramar and it’s a beautiful day. Not windy and not hot….bueno!
This is a crappy picture but isn’t that an amazing two story palapa!
New pavement heading out of Guaymas.
Coming onto 15D heading north.
Concrete….yahoo!
Coming into Heromosillo and the concrete is being laid in the north bound lane so we join the south bound.
Here we’re coming up to the left turn in Hermosillo and we have a truck full of loose pavement in front of us. Pretty bumpy here and the guys are sitting on the load. Ahh….Mexico!
Turn left for Nogales.
As we travel along the periferico I spot this bull. It said something about Ganderas on the sign which has to do with animal husbandry.
The periferico heading north has been repaved and although it isn’t great it sure is a lot better.
Not bad!
Straight ahead for Santa Ana.
Turn right here and then we’ll be out.
We stopped at the Pemex on the north side of the toll booth (199 pesos) to have a lunch. No problem paying tolls when the road is good and it was great from Guaymas to Hermosillo. This cactus was growing next to the parking lot.
Bye bye Hermosillo.
The vineyards are really green right now and they go on for ever. Beautiful.
The road is now asphalt and it’s pretty good here.
Coming up to the military checkpoint by Benjamin Hill and there are no trucks in the truck lane. Haven’t seen that in a long while. They usually go on for miles.
Quiet and we were waved through.
The palo verde are in bloom. Pretty but not great for allergies. Eric really suffered at the Playa de Cortez as the oranges were in bloom.
This says 1H. 40 min from Santa Ana to Nogales with no passing and radar….yeah right!
From km 121 to Santa Ana which is about 40km the pavement was beat. There was some patching but by next year it will be a mess. I wonder if they will lay concrete from Santa Ana to Hermosillo. Eric says they just redid this stretch of road but anything is possible in Mexico…right.
We were into Edgar’s park by 2:30 and are set up for the evening. I had a quick chat with Edgar and he is a lost soul since Anna died. He says he is nothing without her and he doesn’t know what to do with himself. They were together for 40 years. He says his memory has gone kaput and he is so lonely. Poor man. His sister was here last year and she raised the price to 250 pesos because the power has gone up. No problem we gave him 300.
Tomorrow off to the border and then Why, Az. We hope to turn our stickers in easily at San Emeterio but that remains to be seen. I’ll keep you posted.
So sad for Edgar! We always looked forward to our visits with him and Anna. They were so friendly and helpful, great ambassadors for Mexico! I suspect he may succumb to the pressure to sell the RV park to developers. It will be a loss.
