Tomorrow Jackpot, Nevada

We have spent the last two days in the Boise/Meridian Koa in Meridian and tomorrow we will move on.  It will be a short day (178 miles) so no hurry in the morning.  It has been pretty quiet here in the park which may be due to the mess that exit #44 is in due to a huge revamp or maybe the increase in cost in the park since it became KOA.  Who knows…doesn’t matter to us as it’s a comfortable place to stay.

I have done my WinCo shop and am now stocked up with cheese, butter etc. for our months in Mexico.  We had a quick look in the Harley Shop for a light jacket for Eric but we didn’t find anything he liked.  He also has an aversion to being a walking billboard for Harley so that’s an issue as well.

We did go to Camping World which is a huge store here and I found a replacement astro turf mat.  It keeps the dirt out of the rig quite nicely.

So off to Jackpot, Nevada tomorrow and the weather looks good.  No freezing temperatures and a sun and cloud day to travel.  We’ll take highway I84 from Boise,ID to Bliss,ID where we’ll leave the freeway and travel highway 30 to Twin Falls and then south on highway 93 to Jackpot.  A scenic route that doesn’t have us going through Twin Falls.

Not sure if I’ll have internet in Jackpot but if I do I’ll post.  Thursday we’ll go to Ash Springs, Nevada and there is no internet there.  From there we’ll travel to Laughlin, Nevada and the Riverside RV park

Ash Springs, Nevada to Laughlin, Nevada via Overton (238 miles.)  The Valley of Fire State park is just south of Overton but we won’t stop and stay in the park as we head south.  Maybe in the spring on our way home.  We have heard that this is a very scenic drive so it will be a nice change from the drive through Las Vegas.

  1. Glad you see the scenic route from Bliss. We met a couple last year in Oregon that were from Bliss - it was funny that we knew exactly where it was and had been through many times - they were surprised. We hear that the warm springs pool at Ash Springs is closed which is too bad - also one of our favourite stops. Do you stay at Pahranagat wildlife refuge? - it's a nice campground. We've taken the Nevada route several times but not for a few years - we are headed up that way in the spring. Yup - Jackpost to Ash Springs is a long drive!

  2. Hi Teresa: No we haven't stayed at Pahranagat but it looks nice. The hot springs at Ash Springs haven't been open in the last few years that we've been through that way. We try to find new ways routes to travel but since we are not as maneuverable as you are we have to be careful where we go. I usually check out the route on Map Point on my lap top and then program it into the GPS so it goes the way I want it to. I really have to fight with the TomTom as it thinks it's smarter than me!
