We were up early this morning (6:15 Pacific daylight time) and 5:15 Standard time. We don’t change our clocks because by the time we get to Mazatlan which is Mountain time the clocks are right. Make sense…no…well it does to us. Any way we were up, packed up and on the road by 8am our time. This gave us two hours to get to the Arrow Alignment shop in Vegas and also be early for our 10am appointment.
A pretty morning for the 20 mile climb up the hill from Laughlin.
Turn right and 75 miles to Vegas.
Wide open and not much traffic….yet!
We have now turned north onto Highway 93 which will soon become I515.
More lanes …..and more traffic.
We are now on I215 or the Lake Mead Parkway on our way to our exit to Decatur Blvd. where the alignment shop is located.
A crappy picture but here we are. Eric had a quick chat with the staff about our woes with alignment and also explained that this was our “third try.” As it was going to be about 45 minutes until they backed the rig in to work on it we wandered off for an early lunch.
This is a light industrial area but there are also lots of condos so we managed to find a restaurant. Okay food but nothing special.
By the time we returned from our early lunch the rig was in the shop.
Eric is interested to see what they will do. He is disappointed to find out that they do not use a laser set up for trailer axle alignment.
Tires are marked and they will do one axle at a time.
Will any of this help? Who knows. In the end they adjusted for “tow in” and said the camber was good. Tire wear and types were discussed and the guy who did the work explained what he had done. Eric is not hopeful that any of this will help. The tires are already wearing incorrectly so it will be hard to see if any of this has made a difference.
$450 US dollars lighter in the pocket we returned the way we had come….back onto Decatur, then left onto I215, right onto I515 and then south onto the much quieter 95 south from Boulder City. We now had a huge head wind to ruin our gas mileage. A fuel stop in Searchlight and then down the big hill back to Laughlin.
The mountains in the distance as we head down the hill.
The light was spectacular and the cliffs looked like they were 3D.
The Davis Dam in the distance.
We were back in the park and completely set up by 3:20pm (Pacific Daylight time!)
A stressful day done.
I hate that feeling when you know in the back of your mind that whatever was done will not work! But maybe it will! If so you will be a great ad for that alignment place!
ReplyDeleteThinking it might now work - ya like our fuel pump - however it is still working just not sure how long…..
DeleteWe don't change our clocks either if we know they are going to change again anyway. What a hassle to drive all the way to Vegas and back! I hope it works. We used to go through Vegas but now find ways around it although it's not the worst. I usually make Derek take us to Trader Joe's when we are there. Hopefully you can get some much needed rest now….
