We bring them, light, water, propane and food!

The 5th annual Las Jaibas Chili Cook Off is complete, the money has been counted and now it was time to bring money to Geraldo and Lupita who run the Hogar de Los Ninos Orphanage.   Yearly bills have been paid in advance for power, water and propane and today a group of us took the balance of the Chili Cook Off money to Geraldo and Lupita at the orphanage.

The children were all around the table waiting for us to arrive.   P1050797

Everyone says hello and there were hugs all around.

I asked Frank to stand where I thought it would be a good place to take a group photo,

Frank was the organizer of this year’s Chili Cook Off event and he did a stellar job.  He started organizing months ahead of the event and continued after it was all done.  Thank-you Frank!!!

Now we have Jeri, Betsy and I added to the group.  P1050806

I wore my winning Chili Cook-off apron so Geraldo and Lupita could see what was won.   John told them how many people had attended the event….500 and they were amazed.

They are so happy and beyond grateful.  They receive from us and we get just as much back.  There is true joy in giving. P1050811

This money will help them to feed the children and pay for whatever they think is necessary.

John speaks Spanish so he explains how much money we have donated and also what bills have been paid.

We all joined hands while Lupita said a prayer for us all.

P1050815

We were blessed for our good deed, blessed while we are in Mazatlan and also on our journeys home.  This includes all of you who have helped, attended and donated to this worthwhile cause.

Geraldo and Lupita are religious people and we felt truly blessed.

So what’s in Sandi’s bag.  Well…treats for the children of course!  Fruit snacks and a bag of mixed nuts.

Geraldo and Lupita will dole them out and the children happily share.

This is Wally the dog giving Geraldo a kiss.  He is gentle like most Mexican dogs.  I kidded Lupita that now it was solo (only) Wally and no Lupita.  She thought it was quite funny.

It was now time to load ourselves back into the vehicles and head home.

A good job was done by all.
