We started the day by taking Ian to La Penita for a follow up appointment at the doctor as he’s had a cold and sinus infection. More antibiotics. Turns out Craig (Linda’s brother) had to take his wife Judy to the same doctor this morning. Much chest congestion so antibiotics for her too. Hopefully they both improve soon.
While Ian was at the doctor Linda and I trotted down the main street in La Penita to buy a couple of covered Mexican clay casserole dishes. Cheap in a shop that wasn’t frequented by gringos.
We met up with Eric and Ian when the Doctor’s appointment was done and then off to Chacala.
We turned left at Las Varas which is just north of La Penita and then it was about 9km to Chacala. When we entered Chacala we drove through the streets and ended up down on the beach looking for lunch.
Beautiful sail boats in the bay.
A beachfront restaurant for lunch and some cervezas all around. Regular for Ian, Eric and I and a Chiquita for Linda.
Hmmm….what shall we order. How about shrimp for Linda and octopus cocktail for Ian.
Lunch is done and we head off down the beach for a walk.
We’ll head to the end and walk out to the left and the dock at the end.
Would you like to stay here ….I sure would.
Ian should have rented this so we could have stayed with them.
Looking back down the beach to where we ate. A beautiful bay.
This Mexican stopped to let us look at his fish. Small barracuda, Corvina, Torro and Sierra.
I took a bunch of pictures of the bay. Artsy fartsy!
Another beautiful place to stay overlooking the water. Very peaceful.
This is a protected area….no garbage, no vehicles, no motorcycles and no….well what do you think the picture means!!!
I can make Eric laugh….if I tickle him!
Se Renta….okey dokey sounds good to me.
Standing on the dock looking back at the bay.
Another sail boat anchored in the bay.
The pangas were tied up and fishing was over for the day.
Here is some of the catch baking on a fire. Burro or donkey fish cooked with just a little salt and nothing else.
Harbormaster at Chacala.
We walked back through Restaurant Lupita where we’d eaten and had a quick chat with “Lupita?” We discussed in broken English and Spanish how many years we’d been married. 38 for her and almost 46 for us. Lupita thought her husband looked like Ian so I took a picture.
We took a quick look at the newly reopened RV park in Chacala. 24 hour security (the very small, young Mexican guard told us he knew Kung Fu, Jujitsu and besides that he had a flashlight on his belt.) Funny guy. Water on site to fill up, no electricity and no dump. They said you could go into Las Varas or La Penita to dump and that there were pay showers for 5 pesos. Pretty spot and okay for a short stay.
So another good day and home for happy hour. Tonight is potluck at Don Pepe’s but we have passed on that and will wander up the street for dinner.
P.S. I forgot to say that I ran into Gunter in the small grocery shop across the street. We have become friends with he and his wife Regina and their travelling friends Max and Ursula from Germany when we all stay in Las Jaibas in Mazatlan. Gunter told me that today is Regina’s birthday. Happy Birthday Regina!!! Eric ran into Regina when he rode down to the RV park that they are staying in. She didn’t mention it was her birthday. Our very special and nice German friends.
