We had some sad news late on Tuesday that one of our park friends Jack had developed some health problems. Jack and his wife Pat flew home yesterday (Wednesday) to Carson City to get medical attention for Jack and we are all hoping to see them back here soon. They are both good friends and neighbors to all of us. Good karma and warm thoughts Jack.
Thursday January 20, 2011 ( part two)
The rest of the day (Wednesday) was spent getting ready for John and Jeri’s fish fry. A couple of times during the winter they plan a park fish fry and this was our first one. John goes to the dock and buys fresh fish (Dorado) this time and Jeri batters and deep fries it. Manny is the french fry guy and he has his cooker and fry basket going full speed. Val and crew were inside John and Jeri’s rig heating up the tortillas so we could have warm fish tacos. Thanks for that.
As all the fish, fries, oil etc. are expensive we all chipped in 25 pesos per person to help offset the cost.
Dick reminds us to put money in the box. After costs are paid the rest of the money will go to the orphanage.
Eric watches Manny cook fries.
Jeri frying fish.
Even the hostess needs a beer!
The fries are bubbling.

The host and hostess (Jeri and John) get to eat.
Sam and Rita.
Frank, Sandi and Betty.
Marian and Fred.
Connie, Betty, Sarah …. Mary and Sandi is standing.
Everyone else brings the fixings (tortillas, cucumbers, tomatoes, cheese etc. etc.) so you can make fish tacos if you wish. My job was to bring a dessert and I brought Angel bars ( a pecan, coconut bar.) We finished up with these and an array of other delicious desserts and let me tell you, no one left hungry!
Thanks to John, Jeri and Manny for all their hard work, expertise and hospitality.
A good time was had by all.
