Small things that make you smile 😊

We've been here five weeks now and a lot has gone on and not all of it good.  The house and patios take a lot of cleaning over the first two weeks  to get back to normal so I'm tired.  As well our good friend Rafael's health has put a damper on every ones spirits.  It's such a sad situation that we can do nothing about.  Now it's getting close to Christmas and I think about our family and how much I loved Christmas in the early years when our girls were young and our grandchildren were small. Times change and this year we'll spend Christmas with friends.  I haven't spent much time on the beach and yesterday it was time to relax and enjoy the ocean.

My selfie!

These pictures are from a couple of weeks ago but you get the idea.  Yesterday the breeze was warm, the ocean was flat and I was the only one on the beach....just lovely! Sunshine and a good book...what could be better.  A Nora Roberts novel with a little romance, sex and mystery!😁

I was sitting reading and I felt that there was someone behind me.  When I turned around there was a young Mexican man a ittle ways behind me splitting palm fronds that he had under his arm.  Then he began working intently on making something.  A few moments later he came over to me and handed me this lovely little palm flower.  I immediately said " Lo siento no dinero" or sorry no money and he smiled and said no, no... no problemo or no problem.  He didn't want money it was just a kind gesture.  I gave him a big smile and he smiled and wandered off down the beach making another little flower.  Perhaps for some other lucky lady.
My heart lifted and I thought....it's those small things that make us truly happy.

I set it into the vase with the arrangement I bought at bingo a couple of years ago when another young Mexican was fashioning palms into flower arrangements.  They dry to a beautiful sandy colour and last forever.
What a lovely afternoon.

  2. So glad that you got to the beach. We see it but above not walked on it yet. Sadly there are not many people out there on the beach these days, even here on the Isla. How lovely that you were gifted a forever flower. There are kind people everywhere. Contessa
