On Tuesday while I was off to Ladies Lunch Eric took a ride to Cabazan and the lovely restaurant he wanted to stop at for lunch. In years past we used to go San Javier where there was a lovely restaurant but it eventually closed when the building it was housed in became unsafe. We always passed through Cabazan and passed the El Meson de las Misones restaurant.
You head north on Mex 15 and highway 6 leaves Mex 15 toward Coyotitan and continues on to San Ignacio another of our favorite towns. Past Coyotitan there is a an offshoot road called Sinaloa el Carmen-San Javier where you turn left to Cabazan and San Javier.
Eric rode down to San Javier and turned around and came back to Cabazan and the restaurant.
This is looking into the kitchen of the restaurant. When he was getting off the bike a woman came out from a house across the street and waved him into the restaurant.
This is the main dining area where there are tables made from live edge trees. He found it amazing that none of the wood has any checks or cracks in them.
The two tables above are two long live edge tables looking onto the street. They must have come from huge, huge trees and again no checks or cracks.
From the main area looking into the back garden area.
Main seating area. Eric is a " wood guy " so all this all really interesting to him.
There was no menu and the cook just told him what she was going give him to eat. Huevos con jamon...Eggs and ham with refried beans and home made cheese.
Chips and a spicy creamy dip.
Eric said was good but he didn't know what it was!
Salsa Mexican but not very spicy.
She had CocaCola but when Eric didn't want that she made him a tamarind drink. Very good and he liked it.
A dessert tamale filled with some sort of a semi sweet rice. Total price of the meal 180 pesos.
The parrots were in the garden area in a big cage and Eric felt sorry for them. They should be out flying around free.
Very beautiful dining area with room for lots of people in the three areas.
Eric and the cook/owner.
This little guy came in to pick up a bag of lunch and told Eric he should go see the jaguar museum. No one spoke any English so some pointing and sign language and a few words Eric knew. No cell service so no google translate unless you type which is too slow...especially for Eric.
The Jaguar museum info was above the door to the restaurant.
Her business card. A very quiet town and Eric only saw one vehicle go through while he was there.
No noise, no barking dogs and a really clean town as are all the small towns we visit. It's only open from 8 to 4 so mostly a breakfast and lunch place. Eric had no input into what he was going to eat. She did ask him if he had a wife and he said yes...in Mazatlan! ๐ She also watched him suit up and tapped her head to remind him to put on his helmet...too funny!
Weird more like, sit down in my home and I feed you? Joy
ReplyDeleteLooks like it๐ He asked about tacos and she said no.
