Kelowna to Prince George

We were up at 6am this morning and on the road by 7am with 400+ miles to go. Heading up Gordon and out of town.

This is Ellison lake the first of the little lakes north of Kelowna.
Up the highway and not too busy.
Coming into Vernon...not a sleepy little town anymore.
We head towards Kamloops through the Falkland Valley.
The pub!
Huge amount of forest fires through here over the past few years...right up to people's houses.  Dry winter and likely lots of fires to come.

69 km to Kamloops.
Coming down the long hill towards Kamloops.
On the right the South Thompson river.

Lots of sagebrush between Kamloops and Cache Creek.
Lots of hay is grown through here.  All irrigated and many crops in a year unlike Terrace where we used to be lucky to get one off without rain!
Coming into Cache Creek.  We didn't come this way last year because the main highway was flooding...not this year.

The main bridge over the highway is being rebuilt.

As we head up towards Clinton the snow starts to appear.  Good thing we didn't go yesterday.

We stayed in this RV park one year when the creek in the Cache Creek RV park was flooding.
By the time we got up to the Begbie Summit there was quite a bit.
Yuck!
Downtown Clinton.

Looks like November.

And...it's cold.
Over the hill is 100 mile house.
Not a pretty town but a good place to fuel up and eat lunch...and it hailed.
Not much greenery but the willows are leafing out.
The wide open quiet highway.
Forest fires everywhere.
Up ahead Williams Lake.

Turn right for Prince George.

On the left the mighty Fraser river and it's not very high.

Ready to plant.
Coming into Quesnel...pulp Mills here so it's stinky😁
You drive right through the middle of town...they need a bypass.

One of the pulpmills.
This is a pellet plant.  Acres and acres of wood waiting to be ground up.  It's used in pellet stoves for heating.
One of the many railroad over passes.
Just a creek.
I must admit it's nice to see the Canadian flag😊
Prince George where we'll stay the night before heading for Terrace.
Once again the mighty Fraser.

The Carmel Inn.  Decent for a night and there's three restaurants close by.  We like the Vietnamese one.  A long, but good day.  We got in just before 4pm and now for happy hour, dinner and bed.
