Ladies lunch on Tuesday was a big group. I try to hold it down to 12 but this time we were 15. Torturo is located in the Camino el Mar commericial building at the north end of Gaviotis in the Golden Zone. Both Diane and Liz are renting condos in the building upstairs so I asked Diane to make the reservation for two tables which she did.
Seven of us waiting at the bus stop. The restauraunt doesn't open until 1pm.
Off the bus and the rest of the mob is waiting outside the restaurant.
A little bar just outside the entrance in case you need a drink. 😁
Lots of happy ladies visiting.
Mar, Cathy and Liz. Mar looked especially nice!
Pat, Marion, Linda and Mary. This was Pat's last ladies lunch as she and her husband Reg won't be coming to Mazatlan anymore. We'll miss them both!
Now that's a big group and look....we're all at one table. Why does no one ever listen when we say two tables?
From the left Mary, Marilyn, Carol, Cathy,Linda, Marion...Pat at the end and then Ruth, Yolan, Liz, Diane, Mar, Sandi and Susie. Whew!!
Lots of fancy decorations. This is a new Japanese restaurant and no expense has been spared decorating it.
The bar up behind us.
Long and narrow and another group down the end.
The drink menu and I decided to try the Kombucha...not cheap for 130 pesos or just over $10.
Pat made a toast to all of us! She and Reg have been coming to Mazatlan for 22 years and spent 11 years in the Las Jaibas RV park with many of us. Pat was always very social and she hosted many gatherings ...most notably the " Vagabond Christmas Eve" party. Reg's health is not good enough to travel so Pat came to the RV Park to close up and sell their trailer. It was sold to the first of the prospective buyers. We'll miss them both.
I've never tried Kombucha and I really liked this one.
Susie started out with an Eel Nigiri. She has a tiny appetite but she assured me this wasn't the only thing she was having for lunch. Susie has had the nasty cold that's going around so it was good to see her back.
I don't think Sandi would want to eat that.
Liz ordered the " Oh my God" roll and the first thing she said was....oh my God!!
We arrived at 1pm and after we'd chatted, ordered drinks and then food it all started to arrive at 2pm.
I'm not sure what roll Ruth and Yolan ordered but whatever it was it made Ruth happy.
Linda and I shared the "Favorite roll" and the tempura shrimp and vegetables.
Quite a few ladies ordered Pad Thai and it was delicious.
Mar had Pad Thai too and you should note she is missing her signature Margarita. I think she went somewhere after lunch for one or....maybe two!
I've forgotten what Sandi has but I think it's Rock Shrimp on salad and she really liked it.
Looks yummy!
And the table got quiet....everyone is eating.
Our very pleasant waiter gave us individual checks. He suggested two or three people together but when I said no....separado he said okay.
The food arrived almost all at once and the only late order was Ruth and Yolan's tempura order but the waiter had't heard her order it. No problem it didn't take long.
Diane's lunch which she really enjoyed and even had Ruth taste it.
Diane.
The tempura vegetables and shrimp was a popular item as well.
Linda and I shared and even then we could't finish it all. I took three favorite rolls home to Eric.
A look from up by the bar.
There was a very elegant washroom and a few of us had to have a look.
Guess who!
My selfie.
So...the restaurant was a hit. Excellent service, reasonable prices and very good food. No complaints from anyone and many said....Boy, I'll be coming back here.
Another winner.
After lunch everyone went in different directions and some of us just went home. A truly enjoyable lunch!
