La G del Gato for Ladies Lunch.

I do realize I am very late with my post about last Wednesday's lunch but in my defense I was busy and we did have that little kerfuffle with the cartel in Culiacan on Thursday which distracted me for a bit.  It did not affect us here in Mazatlan other than the precautionary "stay at home" order which we sort of obeyed except for when Eric was out on his morning bicycle ride and when we went to the beach in the afternoon! Things were back to normal on Friday.  So...lunch.  This restaurant is close to home and easy to get to by bus.

It faces the street and is open air with a covered roof.  It could use some ceiling fans as it got quite toasty and it's not even hot right now.

We were 11 today and when Ruth (in pink) arrived she explained to the waiter that we wanted "seperado" checks.  She made him write each drink order and food order on a separate piece of paper.  How did not turn out in the end...well....stay tuned!

Chantel who had the problems with paying at the end of last weeks lunch at Pata Salada.  Diane who just arrived and is joining us for her first ladies lunch of the season and Pat.

Marilyn (aka Mar Mabel) Marilyn, Cathy who has been sick with a nasty cold for 3 weeks (welcome back!) and Susie.

Ruth and her kiwi mojito.  She'd ordered something different but when I ordered one she changed her mind😁

The bar,  and on the left the pizza oven.  This restaurant has a varied menu and lots of different pizza choices which I am not going to remember the names of!

Me and my kiwi mojito...very good and refreshing and at the end I used my fork to get the mango in the bottom😋

Marilyn (Mar Mabel)...the Queen of margaritas!  She always samples every place we go.  She's on the search for the best for my brother in law Ian.  He had one at the Last Drop where we play bingo and it was terrible...way too sweet.

Diane and her shrimp burger.

Marilyn's " Blooming onion" battered and deep fried.  She said it was very good.

   Yum.

These are my appetizer shrimp chimichangas.  A creamy filling with shrimp and very good.

This is Marilyn or Mar Mabel as we call her to differentiate from her sister in law Marilyn!!  She ordered cheese sticks which turned out to be wrapped up and deep fried.  She looks very suspicious but in the end she said they were good.

The first pizza out.  Five were ordered which turned out to be problematic for the kitchen.  In the end they should have been shared as half of each pizza went home. I think this is Chantel's Santana pizza.

Susie's meat lovers which had a sort of wiener instead of sausage and she said it was okay but "boring!"

That's a lot of pizza!

Susie!

This is the mandala pizza with spinach.

This, I think, is the Rolling Stone with roasted pears, onions etc.

See what I mean about the sharing!

It took a long time for all the pizzas to come out.  We were their only customers.

The pizza oven and it does have wood piled up below it.

Today all the pictures are a bit yellow as the awning is yellow.

So now for the fun part.  At the very end one check came out with two people on it and the rest were piled onto another.  Ruth was upset because she was sure the waiter understood.  I got a pen and paper and figured out who owed what.  The waiter said the "system" couldn't do separate checks which is hogwash!  The guy on the till was just too lazy. I asked the waiter what they'd do if 11 people came in and sat at 11 different tables.  I'm not sure he  understood but he knew we were not happy.  Just ridiculous.  We said we would not return even though the food was good. Yes restaurants are short staffed but we were the only people there.  Disappointing and this has not been a problem in the past.

Next week...stay posted.
