Back in 2009 when we started RVing in the Las Jaibas park we were lucky enough to meet a great bunch of people and most of us have stayed friends ever since. But time marches on and some people are no longer coming for one reason or another ….mostly health issues and a few have passed away. We miss the close group that got together frequently to play cards, have happy hour, play bocci and have all those wonderful parties like the Fish Fry, potato night and just about anything else that meant that we could all get together. Oh and don’t forget the Chili Cook-Off. Fred and Marion are here for two weeks in a condo and Dick and Val for three so this was a great opportunity to see each other. We miss you John/Jeri, Bill/Jeannette, Rocky/Nancy, Ron/Diane, Bets/Boomer, George/Sharen, our “Germans” and the list goes on and on. Great memories!
So here we are at happy hour. That’s Dick with the bag in the middle saying hi to the guys.
Pat, Connie, Reenie, Reg,Ruth, Eddie, Robyn and Sandi.
Marilyn on the left and Val on the right.
I missed you Val…..
…..Val and Helene are really happy to see each other.
Marilyn talks to Dick. Dick and Val are now staying in the Coyote Wash Golf course RV park in Arizona and are really enjoying it. Dick had some health problems two years ago and they now prefer to stay in the USA so that they are covered by their own medical.
The guys! Eric, Manny, Frank and Bob. Manny has them grinning about something….but then that’s Manny for you.
Marion saying hi to Reenie. It looks like they are trying to figure out where they know each other from which is a common RV thing when you have travelled a lot over the years. That’s Fred in the middle.
Fred saying hi to Reenie.
Frank and the other “ Cathy” only with a C. She and Doug are in the Marina Gardens condos along with Marilyn and Dennis. All formerly in the Las Jaibas RV park.
Fred, Marion and Bob. Okay I’m going to tell you how old Fred is….87! When we tell him how great he looks he tries to say it’s because he’s got all his hair and it’s not that grey but…he just looks great and that’s all I can say. Healthy, happy and enjoying life with his lovely wife Marion.
Doug and Fred catching up. A number of years ago Doug helped Fred with his truck repairs….that’s the way RVers work. You need help…someone is right there to lend a hand or sometimes just get in the way!
Cathy, Pat and Marion.
Do Val and Marion look happy to see each other….you bet!
Hal has his arm around Marion and I don’t doubt that every one is a little misty at this point. You just never know if this is the last time you will see someone.
Frank and Helene chatting.
Robyn and Sandi and at this point I had dubbed the blog the “ Hugging Blog” so….
…..they obliged even though they are both in the park.
Sandi and Ruth. Ruth rents in the Cerritos Resort but she is pretty much a park fixture as she is friends with us all.
Everyone happily catching up.
Val is explaining the RV park that they stay in to Hal. It has lots of activities and they both seem happy there. But….we miss them.
Say what Marion?
Pat, Cathy, Doug and Helene.
This is Gramma Robyn with her grand daughter Blanca. Her brother in law “ Pappa John” and wife Lupita’s little girl who is five years old. She is a sweet little girl but all us old grammas are always telling him that he is spoiling her to death!
Everyone brought an appetizer of some sort so it’s time to have a bite to eat.
Looks tasty! What you don’t see is Ruth’s individual pasta seafood salad cups that she hadn’t put out yet. They were a hit…very good and in the end we didn’t need dinner after grazing.
Sandi and Connie….they don’t look happy but they are!
Fred chatting to Cathy and Doug.
So that was the party. By 6pm we were all done and everyone headed home. It was a lot of fun. On Sunday Eric and I are going to the Messiah at the Angela Peralta Theatre and so are Fred and Marion. Afterwards we’ll go out and have a meal together and catch up.
The next morning I took this picture out the window of a buzzard warming himself up.
Goodness, you can just feel the love - what a heart warming blog. I remember Fred and Marion from several year ago although I did not know them well. I do remember Fred dancing after the chili cook off.
ReplyDeleteYes, Fred and Marion could really " cut a rug!" For some of the people who aren't here this year or can't ever come back the blog is an important link which is one of the reasons I keep it up. The other is that it is our memory of times past, our friends a where we've been.
