Playa de Cortez, Guaymas to Edgar’s RV Park in Santa Ana

Yesterday (Tuesday) was a slow day but not as slow the day before when we didn’t even leave the rig!   We decided to make our usual run into San Carlos and have lunch at Hammerhead’s restaurant at the marina and we travelled in on the ocean rode from Miramar which is all newly paved since last fall.  Very nice!  After lunch which was very good I had a quick shop at Saggitaria where I picked up a few things for next winter.  I have to upgrade my wardrobe a little for cultural events at the Angela Peralta theatre next winter.   Ruth has really raised the dress code bar so I don’t want to be left out and besides that you will never see a Mexican La Senora wearing anything shabby when she goes out for the evening!  Then a  quick stop at Home Depot, a fuel fill up, WalMart and home.   Beer, supper and bed.

We were up at 7 this morning and the weed wacker was running by 7:30.   Better late than never.

IMG_6903  As I mentioned the RV park is looking very shabby and all the grass needs to be trimmed.  We really miss all the big beautiful trees that used to line the center between the sites.  They are all gone except for one which is sick as well.

So, on the road by 9am. There is lots of road building going on between Guaymas and Hermisillo.  We switched sides back and forth all the way to Hermisillo as north and south bound lanes are being concreted.  It’ll be nice when it’s done but right now it’s all a bit stressful.

We came through Hermisillo with no issues and were surprised that the toll was free leaving town.  Some sort of protest I guess.

The huge vineyards are full of grapes right now.

We stopped at km 69 on the south bound side for lunch and fuel.  This fellow made a big effort to clean our windshield, mirrors and headlights.  Eric gave him 15 pesos and also 10 pesos to the guy who pumped our fuel.  A small thing.  Big spender!

Km 112 and the military check point.  They finally got this figured out.  All trucks have to stop and they used to be parked in the right hand lane while they waited their turn.  Now they have their own lane.  We drove through with the cars and no one even asked us to stop.  Goody!

Military check point to Santa Ana….pavement crappy and we travelled really slow.  Hopefully they will have more repaired when we return next fall.  It’s relatively new but it has all failed which is probably why they are going to concrete.

A bit tricky to get into Edgar’s RV park in Santa Ana as they are repaving out front but we did make it in.  We like to park on the bank edge but….someone was in our spot!  We were greeted by a young man who introduced himself as Luis, Edgar’s nephew and he said he is helping Edgar out with the RV park.  As you may know Edgar’s wife Anna, passed away last summer and we were wondering how he was making out on his own.  Turns out his sister is living with him now so he has someone cooking for him and keeping an eye on him.  Edgar is away for a few days in Tucson right now so we won’t get to see him.  Good to know he is all right and not on his own.

It is very hot and the power here doesn’t allow for A/C but it will cool down in a couple of hours.

Tomorrow off to the border.  We plan to stay in Why, Az at the Hickiwan Indian Casino RV park.

  1. So sad to hear of Anna! She was so friendly and helpful to her customers. I hope Edgar will be allright!
