Not me apparently. A few days ago Sharen invited us to a corned beef and cabbage dinner on Friday night. We were planning to take a ride that day and that meant two events in one day which is not our style! However….Sharen and George are such nice people that even Eric couldn’t say no.
Today we were off to Teacapan on a motorcycle ride.. We left the park at 9:30 and didn’t get home until shortly after 4. A quick change of clothes, faces washed, beer, plates, cutlery and my mango salsa packed up, chairs and us in the truck and we drove up front to the party. We usually walk but we were way too hot and tired for that tonight.
When we arrived I wondered why Sharen had a green head band on….well it’s St. Patrick’s day….duh!! Who knew….not us. Apologies to our son-in-law Jeff who is Irish.
An appetizer table is set up prior to the actual food. Sharen is cooking corned beef and cabbage along with roasted potatoes and carrots and the rest of us are filling in the gaps.
Everyone is already into happy hour when we arrive and there are fresh margaritas for all. No gracias…..Eric and I are beer drinkers.
Ruth is chatting to Sharen and Pat who are in green and….drinking margaritas.
On the left you see Mike. He is heading out in the morning after a two month stay. He says he had a lot of fun and hopes to be back next year. That’s Ruth’s husband Jimmy in blue and their grandson Joey to his left. Joey said if you think visiting your grandparents on spring break is boring you are doing it all wrong and probably have the wrong grand parents! He had a great time and is flying home tomorrow.
Ruth is serving cheese and crackers. She always reminds us that when she worked she was a waitress. She was probably a great one!
Pat and Jeri are chatting and….drinking margaritas. When George and Sharen’s supply ran out Jeri sent John home to make another batch.
If you don’t want margaritas you could have wine.
More margaritas, more laughter and more fun.
Fred has his St. Pat’s T-shirt on.
John and Jeri’s dog Remi snuck over from their site and parked herself behind Jeri’s chair. She was really quiet and was hoping John wouldn’t see her. First Ruth patted her and then Eric got his turn. He thinks she is just the best dog and would steal her away in a minute.
Remi is devoted and obedient to John. When he thought she was getting too boisterous he yelled “ Get in your box!” and off she went. Not many dogs are that well trained. A lovely dog.
Pat, Marion and Jeri are swapping stories.
Another nice gathering of friends.
Oh right….it’s St. Pat’s Day!
Dinner was served and my picture taking fell by the wayside. I took over a hundred pictures on our bike trip today and by now I was tired. In any case…the food was delicious and then dessert was served. Jeri made a scrumptious bread pudding topped with green whipped cream and Ruth had brought a tasty chocolate cake from Soriana’s. We had both had a big Japanese lunch in Teacapan and thought we wouldn’t be hungry. Wrong….we even both had some of each dessert…Burp!
It’s dark now and the dew is falling and of course the bugs are out. Eric and I both have long pants on and now we need our jackets. I always spray myself for bugs but sometimes even that doesn’t work. I certainly couldn’t sit out in shorts at this time of night.
We both had a lovely evening and didn’t get back to the rig until 8pm. Long day….but a good day!
