Water’s Edge Bistro for lunch- Superb!

Sorry for the late posting but it has been busy in my world.  With Chili Cook Off, relative-in-laws visiting and the regular household chores I am behind.

So…..Water’s Edge for lunch.

This lovely restaurant is located off the Plazuela Machado ……

From their website…..

“Water's Edge Bistro is located in Centro Historico in a wonderful, fully restored historical building on the corner of Sixto Osuna 48 and Niños Héroes,
right next to Casa Etnika.

We are open for lunch, and dinner Tuesday thru Sunday from noon to 11pm. ’’    www.thewatersedgemaz.com/

A large group for lunch today.  Theresa joins us and three more will meet us downtown.

Four of us hopped the green bus and eight rode and auriega or red truck.

We got off the bus on Constitution and headed toward the Plazuela Machado.  IMG_2414

Topolo’s restaurant (which I’d like to eat dinner at) and also my camera repair guy are on this street.  A lovely walk but a bit too much for the older members of the group. IMG_2415

Carnival is coming and they were erecting a statue in the square.  IMG_2416

Now it got a bit tricky as none of our small group knew exactly where the restaurant was.  We should have gone to the south/west corner of the square and headed west but….we took the round about route and found it anyway.  IMG_2417

Marilyn, Marion, Linda were already seated in the outdoor patio and Val joined them.   IMG_2419

Theresa and I sat at another table to start with.  Theresa doesn’t look happy but she really is!IMG_2420

Now what’s happened we seem to have moved inside.   Well Connie wanted us all sitting together so…..here we all are.  In the end it was easily done as the waiters quickly moved tables to seat us all. IMG_2421

This is Ruth our “Wagon Master.” Ladies lunch was her idea and she has done an admirable job of keeping it all organized.  In the case of the Water’s Edge Bistro she obtained a copy of the menu and had most of us preorder and then made a reservation for us.  A nice idea that was suggested to us by a lady on the bus a few weeks ago.  This allows the restaurant to be prepared for a large group.  IMG_2422

There was absolutely no chat at this point as the group was happily eating the very tasty, well prepared lunch.  We had all been served drinks of our choice while we waited.  I might add that the beer was ice cold and so were the glasses which was delicious on this hot day.  IMG_2424

Most of the group had Asian chicken salad which was served with fresh bread and butter.  Delicious.IMG_2425

Tasted as good as it looks.

The top of bun is off my grilled Tuna on Cibatta sandwich.  It was cooked to perfection with a spiced dressing and fresh lettuce and tomato.  I chose a side salad with it but could have had soup.  Valerie had the tomato bisque soup and it was apparently delicious as well.

This is a copy of the lunch menu.  A very efficient way to serve lunch.  A menu that should please everyone and the same price for every item.  IMG_2428

Connie is saving a copy of the menu on her I Phone.  IMG_2429

Sandi gave this younger waiter some “Fruitillas” which she always carries with her.  He was delighted!

This was a very elegant and comfortable place to have lunch.  The service was impeccable which says it all.  The head waiter kept everything organized, the drinks and meals were delivered quickly and efficiently and the food was delicious and reasonably priced.  What more can you ask for…..absolutely nothing!

They were happy to have us there and we were happy to be there.  I told the head waiter that I do a Blog and I would tell everyone to eat there…..please do, you won’t be disappointed!

We walked back to the Plazuela and the carnival statue was now in place.  IMG_2431

Theresa and I were to meet up with Jim and Eric so we waited in the square.  Well, I waited and Theresa browsed the silver shop.

We did wait until 2pm and then decided we’d check the square by the church to see if we had miscommunicated but they weren’t there either.  So, back to the market to look for t-shirts and then on to the Golden Zone for silver earrings.  Theresa and Jim return home on Friday so there was some last minute shopping to be done.

In the end Theresa got what she wanted and we were home by 4:30 pm.  The guys were waiting and Jim had bought T-shirts so all was well.  The guys had waited for us in the Plazuela  but somehow we missed each other.  Oh well…..the best laid plans “aft go awray!”

A really good day.

Stay tuned for the next lunch review.

The Water’s Edge has the top vote at this point.
