New Year’s Day and we’re off to the airport to pick up Ian and Linda

I spent the morning getting food ready for tonights dinner.  My own recipe for enchiladas/burritos and Mexican rice.  It’s nice to have everything prepared so we can just sit and visit.

It’s just after noon and we are off to the airport for Ian and Linda’s 1:15 arrival.  We thought the traffic might be light today….and it was.  I guess everyone is home nursing a hangover!

Heading out the highway to the airport and we’ve never seen the traffic so light.  Bueno!

We did leave extra time for delays due to accidents and guess what….here is one.  How this guy in his khaki painted truck with giant tires managed to flip it onto it’s roof and over the bank on a straight stretch is a mystery.  Didn’t see another vehicle involved either.  Speed maybe!!!

Airport on the right.  This is also the road that will take to into Stone Island or Isla de Piedra.

We’ve never been to the airport so…here it is.

We were there in plenty of time, picked up our parking ticket and headed inside.  The arrivals board said that the flight was on time (1:23)  but by the time Ian and Linda arrived it was about 10 to 2.  They said they had to fill out forms upon arrival but they were all in Spanish so there was some delay getting forms in English.  We thought it odd that there was no place to sit while we waited for the flight but I found out later that there is a second floor where there are seats and a viewing area….good to know.  At this point Eric had to pay for parking…inside not outside.  Seems a little odd.

We drove them to the Cerritos Resort and their rental unit which is on the groud floor of a two story house.  When we arrived the owner’s sister was there to greet us.  She lives upstairs and the unit was still being cleaned.  The people renting it (friends of the owner) aren’t leaving until tomorrow and they were moving upstairs to stay with the owner’s sister overnight so Ian and Linda could move in.  They were from Monterey Mexico and weren’t happy about going home!  Cold and rainy up their way which is close to the Texas border.  We had a look at the unit (very lovely with all the bells and whistles) and also the roof top area where they can sit in the sunshine.  It was odd that there was no patio furniture up there but we will lend them a couple of chairs while they are here.  So…we dropped off the luggage and said we’d be back around 8.

What happened next?   Well you guessed it, a quick stop at the Kiosko store next to our park for beer and then….happy hour. Eric and Ian chat and catch up.

Linda is super happy to be sitting in the sunshine having a beer.

Everyone is now relaxed and happy…me too!

By 6pm we were ready for dinner.  Linda and Ian hadn’t eaten since breakfast so they were both hungry.  Enchiladas, Mexican rice and a lettuce salad with lime juice and salt.  Perfect and the enchiladas were a hit.

Eric took Ian and Linda home about 8pm and it was time for a little TV and bed for all of us.  They have, TV, netflix, internet and phone service so they are all set.

Good day!
