On the road again..finally!

Here we are parked in the front yard ready to go yesterday.

We haven't been able to drive south for the winter last two years because of...well you know why..covid.

So..on the road this morning.  Destination of the day Quesnel, BC which is a little over half way to Kelowna, BC where we'll visit family before heading into the USA.

It was raining and about 4c when we left Terrace.

Snow on the mountains.

This used to be the hospital in Smithers BC where Eric was born 75 years ago and now it's the Art Gallery.

Snow and rain over Hungry Hill just south of Smithers.

         Prince George, BC.

The rivers are all incredibly low for late                      October, even the mighty Fraser.
Coming into Quesnel where we'll overnight.

A ride to Prince Rupert

I haven't been out on a ride this year as..well you know..the broken elbow thing so today was the day.  Rupert is seldom sunny and as the highway follows the Skeena river it is usually cold and windy.  Today it was supposed to be 16C in Rupert and sunny so a good day.  Two light wool pullovers, a heated jacket and a windbreaker, two layer gloves, ear warmer, tights under jeans and wool socks!  I was barely warm enough on the ride there🥶

We left about 10 am at a temp of 10C...coolish😉  There are no pictures on the way there because my hands were too cold to take a picture😆

We arrived in Prince Rupert at Cow Bay around 12:30 headed for Breakers and lunch.

I open the gate and get on when it's closed.

Parking the bike in Cow Bay..no pictures riding there..too cold!!

Out the window at Breakers.

The view is worth the $23 dollar hamburger? I had the cod burger and Eric the Breakers burger, coffee (too cold for beer!) both were good..the fries were a little limp😁
I made Eric take a selfie and he said my head was blocking the boats!

Eric said this huge boat had no flag...perhaps confiscated from a billionaire Russian?  😳

Huge beautiful sail boats which are another of Eric's dreams😊

The Cow Bay board walk.

On the way home and it warmed up enough I could take a few pictures.  The Skeena River is tidal for a long way inland.

Big rocky mountains surround you. CN rail on one side and the river on the other.

Lots of road work and mostly fixing bridges.  CN is also redoing track everywhere.

Getting closer to Terrace.

Coming into Terrace you can see the CN rail bridge.

A good ride and now for happy hour in the sun on the porch.😊

Summer Finally came to Terrace!😊

It's been hot and lovely for the last 3 weeks. The weather is changing but..we do need some moisture. We hesitate to say that here as it never knows when to quit😁 Our grand daughter Holly Lynn Watson and her Scottish boyfriend Chris have been here from Glasgow for three weeks and they head back Monday morning. We've had a good visit. The daylilys and many other flowers are blooming madly and the garden is producing. Fresh home grown blue berry muffins and three jars of fridge dills and zucchini pickles from the garden. Tomorrow I'll can some beans. Tonight I'm making scalloped potatoes and zucchini fritters with dill and feta. Lots of New Zealand spinach, carrots, potatoes etc. Just puts a smile on my face😊
Chris is a trained chef and here he's deep frying halibut and chips.

Eric keeping an eye on Chris and Holly😁

I made the salads and the fish and chips were delicious.

Chili dinner at our house last Thursday.  Terrace provided a warm, breezy and bug free evening.  Just lovely.

Daylilies, helenium and rudbeckia.  Everything is blooming like crazy.

Blueberry, oatmeal, bran, orange muffins for Eric's breakfast.  The tomatoes aren't mine as it's not warm enough here but they do grow in town.

Cucumber and zucchini dills from the garden.

Happy Birthday to me and my elbow😁

On Monday I had my 3 week xray and yesterday I saw my doctor.  The radiologist says the hardware is in place and the bone is healing...hallelujah!  To say I've been worried is an understatement as it's been 3 months since my fall in March. So...Onward.  it will be a slow journey this time and to everyone's surprise I'm actually doing as I'm told😁!

Today is my birthday and I am always reminded of the following poem.

I was born on a Friday and today is a Friday.  I do love to give presents and I keep my love a bit hidden but it's there and it's fierce❤

Since we arrived home Eric has been busy burning the huge stump piles next to our new driveway road.

I of course have been gardening and mowing lawns with one arm!!  Eric says I'm going to have a Popeye arm by the time this over 😁

This evening we'll be at our daughter Erika's along with son in law Wade and granddaughter Abby for dinner.

This was June of 2020 and my cheesecake that Abby made for my birthday...yum!
