Up early yesterday and on the road by 7:15. We ate in the food court the night before and people watched.  I must say neither one of us are gamblers and seeing people sit punching buttons glassy eyed with lights flashing and music playing leaves us mystified! Each to their own I guess.

Its flat productive farm land around Pendleton Oregon.

The town is down below and lots of history.  Pendleton woolen mills and under ground tunnels that are steeped in a history of myth.

We got off I 84 at Stanfield and took the scenic south  Edwards road to highway 730 along the Columbia River.

Just a real pretty drive.

The mighty Columbia.

Odd rock formation.

West on 12 to Pasco and then north.

This area of Washington isn't all that pretty.

Now North on 17.

North through Moses Lake and onward.  Lots of highway changes as we wound our way north.

Coming into Soap Lake where we used to stay in the RV.

It was very quiet and the people we saw looked poor.

Heading up to Dry Falls and it's amazing scenery.

We stopped at the Dry Falls look out for a bathroom break.  I've done the history of this area in past blogs but look it up if you're interested.

North through Washington and not much growing except for wildflowers.

Up ahead Chief Joseph dam.

Off Highway 19 and onto 97 north to the Canadian border.

The ponderosa pines appear.

Huge fruit production in the northwest part of Washington.

Oroville the last small town before the border.

The Osoyoos border crossing and we were the only vehicle there.  No other cross border traffic.  First time ever and I bet you can guess why😉

Nice border guard whom we've had before.  A couple of questions and we were on our way.

Orchards in the Okanagan valley in Canada.

Picturesque Oliver. Quiet now but crazy busy during tourist season.

Vaseau Lake.

Skaha Lake.

Okanagan Lake starts at Penticton and runs all the way to Vernon...84 miles long and 2 to 3 miles wide.

Down through West Kelowna...formerly Westbank and over the bridge into Kelowna.

What a display of tulips!

We got in just after 4pm and we were ready for beer in Ian and Linda's back yard.  The sun was even out!

Eric and brother Ian catching up.
We're both really tired after our long days on the road and we'll rest and visit for a few days before the last 780 miles to Terrace.
