La Puntilla and another lunch experience failure.

On Tuesday our group was off to La Puntilla which is located down in Playa Sur.  It's been many years since our group has been there so I thought it might be a nice change to head to the other end of town.  We were on the bus at 11am as it's a long ride that can take well over half an hour.

As we got to the end of the ride we were all talking and all I remembered was that we had to get off on the corner.  I should have had my Google maps running but I didn't and we got off too early.  I asked the bus driver but he had a face disfigurement and it appeared that he was mute because of it.  A passing Mexican lady recognized that we were likely not where we were supposed to be and explained that we had about a 15 minute walk.  That isn't a problem for most of us but we had some ladies with us that weren't, for one reason or another, prepared to walk that far.  About half way four ladies got in a pulmonia and four of us continued our walk. The total distance was about 1.2km.

Linda, Liz, Cathy and I arriving at La Puntilla and....we weren't even late! I apologized all round but sometimes things don't go as planned.  Some ladies were waiting and ....they knew where to get off the bus😁

This is an open air restaurant and we were seated away from the edge but there was a cold wind blowing.  Even though it was a nice sunny day most of us were cold.  I walked over to the other side of the restaurant and there was very little wind at the entrance.  I realized that the customers seated along the railing were actually in the sun which was a big help.
And then there was the music!!  Loud rap...just what everyone wants to have playing while they eat😠. So loud that you have to yell.  Very obvious by the age of the waiters that the music was for them and not the customers. In the past Eric and I came into this restaurant to eat but then left because there was a " Banda" playing.

We started by ordering drinks and the waiter numbered us for our checks.

They have a very extensive seafood menu although we did see some people with hamburgers.

At this point we had picked up our drinks and moved to a warmer, less windy area and our waiter was not pleased.  Why...?  because we were no longer in his section and now he wouldn't get the tips.  He was a bit snarky about the whole thing and was rolling his eyes like it really wasn't that bad where we were.  Well...." the customer is always right!"

The ladies couldn't figure out what the big deal was until it was mentioned about the tips.  In the end when I asked about that our first waiter said there was no problem as the other waiter would share.  What a big deal about nothing.

It's a lovely view here.

Marion with her back to us, Susie, Sandi, Liz, Cathy, ....Linda, Yolande, Ruth, Mary and Pat.

Marion is making a "pouty face" as I teased her about taking a picture of her best side in the previous photo!

This is my "Mangada" which is a fruity mango drink.  Very tasty but that red crunchy stuff on the rim ended up falling on my blouse and I had red dots on the front of my "boobs."  Lovely...not.  Luckily I got it out with Dawn when I got home.
And now for the food which ended up being good for the most part.  These are Sandi's clams which I said I thought she was adventurous to order as they were raw or "ceviche style" which is just cooked in lime juice.  When she figured out they weren't actually cooked she wanted to send them back.  Yolande piped up and said " no problem I'll take them" as she likes them that way.  Problem solved. Sandi did get cooked ones later.

The waiter explaining that the clams were cooked in lime juice and Sandi saying...no thanks!

Yolande happily eating the clams!

Susie ordered shrimp empanadas or shrimp filled turnovers which she said were delicious.

Coconut shrimp for Ruth and Mary and again very good.

Yolan's fish lunch.  There were quite a few different ways to order the fish and I couldn't keep track of them all!

My seafood soup with all sorts of different fish and shell fish.  Unfortunately the broth wasn't very good and all the seafood was very rubbery so I didn't eat all that much of it.  I'd guess the seafood was from a frozen mixed bag and then overcooked.  Disappointing.

Linda ordered shrimp with cheese as the picture made it look so good.  A lot of cheese and quite greasy.

Tacos Governor or shrimp tacos with cheese ....good but not great for Cathy.

Sandi's fish with rice and salad.  Again...good!

Marion had fish as well and this dish has a tasty sauce on it.

Another type of fish dish for Pat.

Liz had fish as well but she didn't care for the way it was prepared and the taste.

Everyone happily eating...for the most part!
Linda.

Lunch over and back out to the street to catch a bus. This is the corner that we should have got off on.  It likely won't happen again because ....our group won't be back.

Sandi, Pat and Susie.
I was trying to take a half selfie with Susie and Ruth on the bus but Ruth noticed and had to ham it up.

The whole group came home on the bus.  In the end between getting off at the wrong place, freezing to death and moving, loud rap and waiters rolling their eyes at us it wasn't a good experience.  The food was good for the most part and the prices were average.  I did stand up at lunch and say that the group was welcome to fire me but they just laughed and said " not a chance!"  Not because I do the best job but, no one else wants to do it!!  It's a good thing we're all friends and had fun in spite of the problems.😊
A lunch to remember🤣
