We left the Playa de Cortez this morning just after 9:30 am on our way to Santa Ana.
The roads between Guaymas and Santa Ana are a mixture of new pavement and really bad failing old pavement with huge potholes. A real treat for the driver as he has to be on alert and dodging quickly as some of the holes are really deep. A short but tiring day.
No issues through Hermosillo except for two really large oversize/over width pieces of mining equipment (ore trucks on low beds) ahead of us as we entered the ring road around the city. We managed to squeak by and get ahead of them which is a good thing. There would be no way to get around them once we were out on the highway.
Sometimes the lake/lagoon on your right going through Hermosillo is dry but it has a little water right now.
Onward to Santa Ana.
New trucks heading south to Empalme.
Toll booth just north of Hermosillo. Only one toll today.
A quick pit stop at the Pemex on the other side of the toll booth.
The first part of the pavement looks good but it won’t last.
Off we go onto the south bound lane while they repave the north bound lane. A large make work project I think!
The Federalies are keeping us safe.
The trucks are all lined up for the Military checkpoint. 
We were not stopped at the Military check point at Benjamin Hill although we did get a very intense glowering look or “stink eye” from the young Mexican who spoke to us. I think they aren’t allowed to be nice!

We arrived at Edgar and Anna’s at around 2:30 and had a nice chat. There is only one other rig here tonight and it’s a motor home from Washington. Turns out it’s Peter, Terri and Lulu the dog who used to be our neighbors a few years ago in Las Jaibas. They spent the winter in Ajijic on the north side of Lake Chapala and have now bought a home there and are selling their motor home. Nice to see them and we wish them well.
Tomorrow we are off to Why, Az for a couple of quiet nights.
Someday they will have finished working on hat road and then they can start all over again! It is great to hear Edgar and Anna are still hanging in there, what a great couple. They have been so many travelers first real contact with Mexico and are always so helpful.
