Coos Bay, Oregon to Susanville, CA

We were up really early this morning so we could enjoy breakfast and a ladt visit before we hit the road.

Hugs and a selfie as we headed out at 7:30 am..  we had a great visit!

Heading south on 42 towards Roseberg and I 5.

Beautiful fall colour everywhere.
Up ahead Grant's Pass.  In January of 2008 we did a fly by the seat of your pants trip to Mexico in the truck and we rolled into Grant's Pass in the dark and got a room!
Eric just loves the logs on the trucks.  Straight beautiful wood.  He has a band saw mill at home and buildings full of lumber.
Huge and heavy.
Down below fog and smoke.

Fuel at the Ashland 76.

Looks burned but it's fall color.

All so different than home and very pretty too.

I do believe that's Mount Shasta under cloud.

Up ahead Weed where we planned to stop at a rest stop for lunch but it was too windy and dusty so we carried on.

Here we leave I 5 and get onto 89 towards Reno.

Just after we got off I 5 there was a pull off for lunch.

Lunch stop.

Straight as an arrow.

The Ranger station and no...I didn't see Yogi and Booboo😁

Shasta Trinity National forest.

Up ahead Hat Creek.

Now we're into ranching country.

63 miles to Susanville and our stop for tonight.

This whole area has been burned off by a forest fire.

Back into forest.

Now we're on 36 and coming into Susanville.

Look at that little roadster!

Susanville and the Super 8 but first...fuel.

For California not a really terrible price but about $8 for 4 liters in Canada so...expensive.
We arrived at the Super 8 around 3:30.  Last year when we were here there was a a junior high school baseball team staying...not tonight...nice and quiet.  Home made frozen lasagna for dinner and Connie's snickerdoodle cookies for dessert.
Tomorrow Ridgecrest, Ca.

Three days in Coos Bay with the Albisu's.

So what's been going on...well not much.  Lots of chat and catching up mostly.  Eric and Manny have similar interests so lots to talk about.  Connie and I tred to go walking yesterday but...too much rain so we came back and played our second game of "hand and foot!"

Last night we all watched the "game"....boohoo..theJays lost but it was a great game.  The win belongs to Yamamoto.

It's Sunday and Manny's making home made French fries and fresh posters for dinner...yum.

Mannys pre cooking the fries.

Connie and I had a nice walk around the estuary...2 miles total.

Coos Ba Boardwalk.

Mill.

Coos Bay is all hills and twisty twiny roads.

Connie and Manny's house is down there.

Straight down.

Connie when she was young.

So we've had a really good visit.  Good food and good friends and lots of chat. Today on to Susanville California.

BTW Connie won the best of three games of hand and foot.  We'll miss them both in Mazatlan this winter.
