Up at 7am today in preparation for our 250 mile journey.
This is us parked at Araby Acres. No designated parking spot so you just have to wiggle in. The guy next to us is really long so he had a harder time parking his vehicle.
A typical RV park in Yuma with paved streets and palm trees.
On the road at 9am and it was foggy but it didn’t last long.
Coming down into Dome Valley east of Yuma.
Heading towards Casa Grande and it looks like there are some mountains to go over. Eric added an altimeter app to our phone which is really handy for elevation. We got up to about 1700 ft. as we went up and over. Yuma is at about 150 ft.
Past Casa Grande and now south on I 10. That’s Picacho peak in the distance.
Closer here and we are climbing in elevation again.
Cotton is being harvested everywhere. The very fine and soft Pima cotton!
In Tucson and there are five lanes here. Busy but since we go slower than everyone (60mph) they all just pass us by.
On highway 19 at exit 80 there is the Desert Diamond Casino where we arrived at about 2:30 pm. We always leave lots of time for …..things like blown tires!
Last year we stayed here on just about the same date when we travelled south from Phoenix with Frank and Sandi. Elevation here 2640 ft. I have a cold chicken with a salad and rice for dinner so all is well.
Tomorrow over the border and on to Guaymas. It was a good day so hopefully tomorrow will be a good day too.
