Tater Night!

Saturday, February 2, 2013

I know, I know….is eating all you people ever do!

So….first you cook your potato.  In my case I nuke ours until almost done, rub the skins with butter, wrap in foil and onto the barbecue to crisp up.  I kept ours on our barbecue until it was time to dress them up.

We were invited to a Saturday night tater soiree at John and Geri’s along with a large crowd of people from the park.  Another generous invitation….thanks for that!

These are the two Linda’s, Marilyn’s friends from White court, Alberta.  They are here for a two week vacation and are having a great time.  I asked Marilyn if she called them Linda Lou, and Linda Sue to differentiate but she said no, Linda 1 and Linda 2.  Kinda rhymes the same.  Fun gals!

Everyone brought something to top the potatoes with and then onto the barbecue for a short heating up and then……a delicious dinner.  I supplied the Manchengo cheese which is a really nice mild Mexican melting cheese.

The condiments.

We’d never done this before so it was a new experience and a delicious one to boot.

Our favorite topping was the Chile and it made a nice tasty, sloppy mess along with onions, and cheese and ……whatever else was on the table.

Eric’s big sloppy dinner.

There were desserts to follow.  Brownies, and nice lemon cake and Betty’s famous frozen drumstick dessert.  Hard to keep the calories down at one of these.  However….remember the rule….”If everyone eats the same thing there are no calories…they all cancel each other out!”   Good rule eh!

As it starts to get dark it’s time for the nightly Grackle pooping and get ready to roost fly by.

Birdie, birdie in the sky,

Some nights there are so many of them that you can hardly see the sky.

Everyone has there own method of coping.  Some people clap their hands and try to scare them off.  Works, but they come right back!   Some people duck and cover under the awnings or whatever is handy.  Some people say “ What the heck…poop on me if you want!”  And other people like Val have their own strategy.

Must have worked….she didn’t get pooped on!

A fun evening!
