Coos Bay, Oregon to Susanville, California

We had a really good visit with Connie, Manny and Mitzi. We'd planned to stay a couple of days but ended up staying three.  The rain was just too bad to leave yesterday.  It would have been a horror on I5...who needs that!  Plus, we don't have a schedule anyway and Connie and Manny are two of our favorite people😊  Yesterday Connie and I were out and about and Manny took Eric to one of his buddy's machine shops.  Mannys into restoring old cars and Eric's interested in anything mechanical so it was an interesting visit.  Eric and Manny have lots in common. Connie and I also managed to fit in a couple of games of hand and foot too!  The game of choice for the ladies in Mazatlan.

The monsoon yesterday!

Downtown Coos Bay.

Last night's dinner.

This morning we were on the road by 7:30 am heading for our first stop in Susanville California.

A pretty morning and...no rain.

It's a pretty drive through Coquille towards I5.

We're on I5 heading south and a car club joined us.

Up ahead Grants Pass.  Back in 2008 on our first trip to Mexico we stayed in Grants Pass.  We were in the truck and it was January.

Medford Oregon.

We stopped for fuel in Ashland and this coffee stop was in the parking lot. Two of the three stations didn't have diesel!!

Heading down from the Siskiyou pass.

It's a long way down.

Up ahead Mt. Shasta.

Snow on top.

Here we leave I5 and head east on 89 towards Susanville where we're spending the night.

The road is straight as an arrow and the trees are tall.

A really peaceful drive along 89 with virtually no traffic.

The cattle are grazing.

60 miles to Susanville.

Lots of fires through all of California.

We're up high.

And...the snow starts to appear.

At least the road is dry.

A large reservoir.

5 miles to Susanville.

Downtown Susanville.  We're in the Super 8 and it's quite full.
It was a quiet drive with no issues and tomorrow..Ridgecrest, California.
