A little shopping, a little packing, a little bowling and rainy, windy weather!

Sunday March 7, 2010

Friday afternoon Eric and I hopped the bus and headed down to the tent market that is in town.  Ordinarily I wouldn't encourage Eric to go shopping but since the wares they had for sale were so nice I thought he should have a look.  We wandered through and I picked up a nice Mexican blouse and then we had a look at the Panama hats.  The vendor wanted 200 peso's (about 18 Canadian dollors) for a hat that can cost up to $200.00 in the U.S.  They are made in Ecuador and are great for the Mexican sun.  Eric picked up one that ( I think ) looks great.

Panama Eric!
We spent yesterday and today packing up in preparation for our move on Tuesday.  We had hoped the toll road would be open but talks between the protestors and the government have broken down .   We got a comment on the blog from Carol and Richard (from Vancouver) that they made it to La Cruz on the toll road and then had to cross over to the Libre and finish the journey to Culican that way.  Just another little glitch!  You just have to roll with it!

The weather turned rainy and windy yesterday so swimming has died down although Eric did make a brief attempt this afternoon.  Over night the wind was intense and our Starchoice dish blew over.  For some reason Eric had not weighted it down and over it went.   Broke the LNB arm and broke the edge of the dish.  We thought we were out of TV but some duck tape and we are now up and running again although we will need a new dish.

I caught this picture of Pat up on the top of their motorhome untying the tarp that had blown off over night.  Don't fall Pat!

She's pretty agile, our Pat.
Don't fall!

Betty and I walked up to Cerritos this morning for some exercise and a bite to eat.  I had wanted to pick up some coffee from the "Looney Bean" as we were almost out of the coffee I brought with me.  85 pesos for a pound of Chihuahua bold which is just over $7 Canadian.  Really good coffee!  The walk with Betty was nice, good girl talk!
I went over to Pat and Jack's for the last Wii bowling extravaganza this afternoon it was great fun.  Not as many people as earlier in the season but still a good turnout.  Pat and Jack have been really gracious with the whole Wii bowling thing and I've really enjoyed their company while we've been here.   Here is a shot of Pat's wall of fame!

The wall of fame!

I was the defending champion of the bowling / champagne trophy so I was in a tough spot!  When we got to the end of it all with Sandi (filling in for Diane who left today) and I tied for first.  So, what were we to do!  Drink the bottle together or battle it out in a three frame playoff.  Three frame playoff it was and guess what ....." Sandi a.k.a as DIANE" whipped my butt.  She won the bottle of champagne.  Boohoo!  Oh well there is always next year.

Mary, Sandi, Kathy and Sharen.
The final days top winners.

Sandi wins after a three frame bowl off!

The whole shooting incident in the park has certainly been the main topic of conversation lately.   Yves Guay who was shot got out of the hospital today and is back in the park.

Yves and Sharon on Sunday afternoon taking a short walk in the park.

He is now parked a few spots down from us with his wife Sharon now as his and another rig (B. B. Bob! and Donna ) moved forward after the incident.  Most people have talked this thing to death.  Why did it happen?  Why were these people targeted?  Why didn't the thieves go to the rig across from him where the guy actually had his door open and was watching TV?   The criminals left their vehicle at the front of the park with one guy watching the night watchman/garbageman/gardener and then walked to the back of the park to commit their crime.  When the whole thing failed they ran to the front of the park to escape.  It is a long way!  Was it random, unlikely, why did they pick them, who knows!  The likely reason is that they wanted the Guay's black SUV.  Will most of the people in the park stop coming to Mexico, probably not!

Monday  March 8, 2010

This morning all of Sam's buddies from Winnipeg showed up on their Harley's.  They are heading to a buddies wedding in Puerto Vallarta on the 10th of March.  They had the bikes shipped to Phoenix and then began their ride south.  One of the riders had an accident on the interstate in Phoenix and totalled his Harley.  He was banged up but is okay.  Rented a truck to drive and off they went.  They road all the way from Hermisillo to Mazatlan in one day and arrived here last night.  That is a really long way!  Sam is going to ride with them to Rincon and then come back today.  Or so he says!  Rita is skeptical!

Sam and friends, ready to roll!

Rita to the right telling Sam to be careful!

The packing is done and tomorrow we start to head north, if only a little bit.  I think we are ready to go and since we move slowly we won't be home until April anyhow.
A last shot of Las Jaibas in the evening!

Attempted robbery and shooting in Las Jaibas

Saturday,  March 6, 2010

Thursday night at about 11:30 pm there was an attempted robbery? kidnapping? at the back of the park.  I had heard unusual vehicle traffic throughout the night  but nothing else.  It appears that armed men posing as police? tried to enter a large motorhome at the back of the park.  In the ensuing struggle the Canadian man was shot.  The assailants left and a neighbour (Bob from Chilliwack) came out to help when he heard the shot (brave or what!) and discovered the man had been shot in the leg.  He transported him to the hospital where he is recovering.  The bullet just missed a main artery.  The stories have been flying as to why and how this happened but in the end it did actually happen and it has taken the wind out of everyone's sails.  The municipal police are now driving through the park every few hours but too little, too late.  You can read the wife's account of this in: http://www.globaltvcalgary.com/Calgarian+shot+while+vacationing+Mexico/2647015/story.html
http://www.calgaryherald.com/news/Calgary+shot+resisting+attack+Mexican+park/2647746/story.html
The local Noroeste Mazatlan paper had a different story with different names and reason for the attack.  The above link is apparently the story given to the Calgary paper by the wife.  Scary stuff.  I'm sorry if this terrifies our children and friends but it is what happened and we can't hide from it.  Will we come back next year?  Probably.

Most of the rigs at the back of the park (which is set up for caravans) have moved forward.  People are leaving but most because they were going to anyhow.

The Maxipista is open north to La Cruz in both lanes and then blocked into one lane at that point.  From there it goes back to two lanes after you have passed the protesters.  This opening may be temporary as it depends on the talks with the government.

I had delayed this post as I wanted to get the story straight and not just report rumours.

Shop till you drop!

Tuesday March 2, 2010

I was going to head down to Centro on the bus this morning for a little shopping  and then travel back to the Gold Zone to the tent with all the wares for sale from Guadalajara etc. by myself.   It turned out that Sandi and Betty were going too so  I joined them and off we went on the bus.  We started out at the Central Market to pick up odds and ends of what we needed.  Another big bottle of  Vanilla for me (really cheap here!) and then on to the Gold Zone for more shopping and lunch.  We ended up at Pancho's on the beach and had a really nice meal and Betty ordered some personalized pens from a young woman on the beach that she knew from another trip to Mazatlan.   A hard way to make a living but I guess you just do what you have to.  We wandered around shopping and it was really quiet.  Hardly any tourists and the vendors were constantly yelling "Almost free, almost free!"
We looked at this and that and then headed down to Los Floris so Betty could pick up some information and of course a last beer before heading home was in order.  We were now too tired to go to the tent market and just hopped the bus home.  All that shopping is exhausting and thirsty work!

Wednesday,  March 3, 2010

Helene popped over this morning to see if  still needed to go to the big tent for some shopping.  Of course I did!  A good trip and I picked up lots of really nice items.  A beautiful (bonito)  amber ring for me, some mole to cook with and a couple of other items that will make nice gifts.  A fun trip.  We got home just before 3pm so I had time to throw on my bathing suit and head to the beach for a swim.  Lovely and warm and just what I needed.

While I was out shopping Eric had headed up to Soriana's to get some buns and a lightbulb.  The Mexican parking lot guy at Soriana's really liked the Harley and when Eric came out after shopping he was still standing by the bike.  A pretty senorita was passing by and the parking lot guy made the typical curvy motion with his hands to appreciate her shape.  He then looked at Eric, pointed at him and winked and continued on with the two handed pump motion along with a sexy hip gyration!  He was telling Eric that he had a nice bike and could probably get himself a nice senorita with it!  Too funny!   A real chick magnet is Blue!

We have just found out that there is a problem with the toll road (maxipista) between Mazatlan and Culiacan.  We had noticed cones blocking the entrances to the toll road on Monday but thought it had something to do with drug busts.  Apparently there is a large protest (800 people) due to a dam and relocation of the people who live there and so these people are walking from Mazatlan to Culiacan in protest because their demands have not been met.  All the traffic is now travelling on the free or libre road between here and Culiacan and it is uncertain when the toll road will reopen and the park has filled up quite a bit with people waiting to travel north.  We do not want to travel the free road and especially not now when it is jammed with all the traffic.  We will wait and see and hope that the toll road will reopen by Tuesday when we are planning to leave Mazatlan.

We had a good day for a trip to Concordia and Copala.

Monday March 1, 2010

Today was a good day.  Eric and I had originally planned to go with Frank and Sandi for a look at Malpica (which is just before Concordia) to see the tile factory.  Sam and Rita had declined as Sam's brother and girlfriend are here for a visit and they were going to be busy.  But, who can resist a ride on a sunny day!  Sam and Rita decided to join us and we all headed out at 9:30 this morning.

On the way out through Mazatlan one of the very old pick-ups with bad steering that travel the roads here pulled up next to us with a smiling Mexican driving.  He had his eye on the Harley and had a huge grin on his face.  "Where are you bisiting from? he asked."  (no V's in Spanish.) "Canada, said Eric"  Welcome to Mazatlan he said!  He was quite taken with the motorcycle as are many of the Mexican people.  A really nice guy!

As we continued on past Ville Union towards Concordia we  saw the sign for Malpica but it wasn't clear where the tile factory might be so we kept driving  and stopped at one of the many furniture shops as you come into Concordia.  We thought we'd check it out on the way back.

A look at the shop where the furniture is made, Mexican style.

The ornate furniture, the shop is open to the street.

Rita looking out at us heading toward the furniture shop.

We had a look at the very ornate furniture and also the shop where they do their woodworking.   The style and finish of a lot of the furniture would not suit a northern home but I understand they will make you anything you want.  Concordia is very well known for it's furniture and it was an interesting stop.  We continued on until we came to the actual town of Concordia and then headed in with Frank leading to have a look at the town it's self.  We followed each other up narrow and one way streets until we got to the town square and church and we had to park a ways away as it was quite busy and parking was hard to find.

A parking spot on the street in Concordia.

Walking back to the square and church from where we left the bikes.

We walked up the street past all the shops and continued to the town square to take some pictures of they very old and beautiful church that was built in the 1500's.

I asked Sam and Frank to look like all the other old guys in the square sleeping on the benches.  Frank did a good job!

The churches are always gorgeous but the cost to the poor Mexican population is enormous.

A look at the face of the church.

This is a really gorgeous building.
I snuck a picture of the inside.

Another old building in the square.

Concordia has a huge wood rocking chair in their square since furniture making is what they are known for.

Shades of "Edith Ann" from Laugh In!

Kathy in the Rocking Chair in front of the huge church.

Sandi did a little shopping in the square and then we all decided to continue on to Copala for lunch.  As we walked back to the bikes Rita decided to try on some shoes in one of the many shops lining the street. Gladiator boots anyone.  Cute shoes!

This only proves that women can shop anywhere!  We all headed out for a  lovely warm ride to Copala and along the way there were many beautiful trees in bloom.  The red one with the bottle brush flowers is lovely but I don't know what it is.

We had another good lunch in the same place that we had eaten in last time we were in Copala.  After lunch was done we all headed down to Daniel's restaurant to look at the old mine that Frank and Sandi had told us all about.    It was really interesting to see and it is right underneath the restaurant.

The explanation of how the mine was actually discovered.  (Double click to read)

Heading down the stairs to the old mine shaft.

Frank and Sandi in front of the huge tree in front of the mine.

The roots of that tree.

When we came back up I noticed the leather masks that Daniel's restaurant  had displayed for sale in their lobby and I was quite taken with them.  It only took me about 30 seconds to pick out a beautiful one to take home.  Sandi says that the Mexican who makes them lives in La Noria so we'll have to take a run out there to have a look if we have time before we leave.  The masks are part of the whole Carnival event but this one (even though it fits me perfectly!) will just hang on the wall.  A good find.

As we travelled on the very, very, very bumpy cobblestone road (rough going on the motorcycle) out of Copala we stopped at a huge tree with it's roots exposed for a picture.

Kathy and Blue in front of the huge tree.

The exposed roots of the very large tree.

On the way back to Mazatlan we stopped at one of the many pottery shops just past Concordia.    Most of it would not suit at home but I did find a small concrete and rock tortise for my garden at home.  Not cute which suits me fine.

A look at the pottery lining the street.

We left and  continued on back towards Malpica but even with the directions Sam had been given by a Mexican did not find the tile factory.  Another time I guess.  All in all a really good day and we were all home for happy hour.  Perfect!

We Won!

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Okay, so I don't usually watch hocky anymore since Eric hasn't watched it in years.  However this morning Jack invited us over for the big Gold Medal match between Canada and the U.S.   We were going to take a ride to Concordia today but decided to wait a day since the " BIG GAME WAS ON"  Eric and I  dug out our Canada flags, hats,  and t-shirts and headed over to join in .

So, how dopey does this bunch look?
I'm trying to dodge the flag attached to Eric's hat!

Another of Connie's great collages, what a goofy bunch!

Eric and I along with Betsy and Boomer were the Canadians, although Rick did make a showing.  Now you have to understand that most of the Americans don't really understand OUR game.  So, how many quarters are there?  etc., etc.  The Americans here are all great but Boomer said he had done "Hockey 101 and went to watch the game in his rig!   I must point out that there has been no flag waving from anyone in the park at any point so this was an exception.  Well we all know what happened next "  WE WON!"  Yeah!  Lots of good natured fun.  The Americans in this park are just great, really good sports.

I did hop the bus today and take a look at the tents with the stuff from Guadalajara but didn't find anything that make me take out my wallet.  I'll look again another day.

Tomorrow Frank and Sandi will head out in the Jeep with Eric and I on the Harley for a trip to Concordia.   Frank said he'd like to see the tile factory up that way so we'll see how we do.

Bocci dinner and Wii bowling.

Thursday, February 25, 2010

Yesterday afternoon we did some Wii bowling over at Pat and Jacks.  I played in round two and did okay and even ended up in the days finals.  For some reason I was hot and after four strikes in a row won the bowling trophy for a week.  Pat crocheted a cover for a bottle of champagne that looks like a bowling pin.  So corny it's cute.  I get to keep it for a week.

Those of us going for the Bocci dinner at Fat Fish " two for one night " headed out at 5:15 and seven of us piled into Bill and Jeanette's truck.  Kind of a Mexican ride except we didn't have the pick-up box full of people!  Eric didn't come so I had to drink two Pina Coladas (small) and just ordered my own dinner.  We were home by 6:30 pm so that was a real quick trip.  Eric hadn't even eaten his leftovers yet.   It was kind of nice in town at night with all the lights as it hides all the imperfections.  Can you tell I haven't been anywhere at night yet!

Eric is still not up to snuff yet and so I went to the beach by myself  again and it was really nice and  I even went in and had a little swim.  Lovely.  The wind has finally quit and it is warm again although it has really been cooling down at night.  Good for sleeping.

Friday February 26, 2010

Sam and Hal are doing some construction across from us at the Blue Bus.  Sam is helping Hal put an extension on top of their small Toyota pick-up (Hal and Helene's)  so that they can put a bed in it while they travel to and from New Mexico where they live in the summer in " another bus."

Hal & Sam building.

Looking good!

 Waiting for paint!
I'll post a picture of it finished if it's done before we leave.

Hal & Helene's Blue Bus.
We have now made plans to travel out of Mexico as far as San Carlos with Frank and Sandi.  We'll leave here on March 9th and stop in a Pemex in Los Mochis and then head to San Carlos the next day.  Frank and Sandi will spend the night and then head to Ajo, Arizona for the night before they go Scottsdale to see their kids and grandkids.  The grandkids have a ball tournament on that weekend so they wanted to get there to see that.   We don't care whether we leave a day or two early so it's good for both of us as it's nice to have someone to travel with.  We'll stay in San Carlos for a week and then head out and probably stay at Edgar and Anna's in Santa Ana before we head out to Arizona.  At least this is the plan for right now.

We went with the Friday night bunch to Los Floris in the Golden Zone tonight for 2 for 1 drinks and dinner tonight.   I had been to the beach "by myself again" and came back for an early shower to get ready to leave at 4:30 (shades of the early bird dinner!)   The group climbed up to 14 in numbers tonight and we were a little overwhelmed to start with as we headed out on the bus.  When we got off the bus to walk to the hotel it was nice to see the hustle and bustle of happy people shopping and getting ready for an evening out.    Los Floris is really nice as it's right on the ocean and we were sitting outside as well and once everyone got a couple of drinks under their belts it all got quite social.  Good fun and lots of chat.  The meal was okay and everyone was ready to go by just after seven.  We could have stayed a little later but we hopped into a Pulmonia with Hal and Helene and headed home.  The driver spoke excellent english and knew quite a bit about Canada.  Eric commented that all these shootings can't be good for business and he agreed saying it is even worse in the border towns, which we of course knew. He also said that he heads inland in the summer because the temperature climbs to 110F and the humidity to 90%, quite hideous!  So we were home before we usually even have dinner on our big night out.  Too funny!

Tomorrow I hope to get into the Golden Zone where they have some tents set up with stuff from Guadalahara.  It's supposed to be different that the usual "crap" that you can buy here.  Hope so.

There was a a beautiful full moon by early this evening see.......!

We didn't win but we had fun!

Saturday, Feb. 20, 2010

Sam, Rita, Kathy and Connie.

Connie and I played Sam and Rita at 10:00 am this morning and all the Bocci enthusiasts were there to watch the game.  We played well but they played better and we didn't win.  Boohoo!

Sam and Rita went on to play Bill and Jeanette in the final and it was a close game with both teams playing excellent Bocci.  It was 20 to 19 for Bill and Jeanette and they scored their last point and won the game.  They are the proud winners of the trophy that they made!  Lots of fun for all.

Sam, Rita, Bill, Jeanette with Fred and Marion handing out the trophy.
Fred and Marion worked hard to referee both of our games, a hard job!
Connie's Bocci collage.

Teacapan tomorrow.

Sunday, February 21, 2010

Sunday the group headed out for the trip to Teacapan.  We  thought the day might be a bit cloudy but it was sunny and clear.   Frank and Sandi had Hal and Helene with them and George and Sharen had Pat and Jack and off we went with the Harleys leading.
Honest Officer I wasn't speeding!
Hal took this picture and emailed it to me with this caption.

The trip out was good with the traffic fairly light.  When we passed Ville Union on the free road Sam and Rita were in the lead and unfortunately they got stuck behind a truck in heavy traffic and that is a really crappy place to ride.  Part way along a whole bunch of Mexicans on Harley's showed up and started to pass us all.  They were like a swarm of bees dodging in and out of traffic in two's and threes and passing where ever they felt like it.  Not safe!   As soon as they were ahead of us all they stopped and pulled over.  What's up with that.  As soon as they were back on the road they did it again.  Just nuts!  Now, some might say Eric and I  are old fogey's for thinking that but unsafe passing, speed and corners will get you killed.  No Thanks!

When we got to Teacapan Sam took us to a restaurant right on the beach just before you get into town.  There was an RV park and a really nice place to eat with a pool.

Frank and Sandi on the beach.

The gang at the restaurant on the beach.

A look north up the beach.

We all got out but Sharen and George along with Pat and Jack wanted to continue on to Otto's Japanesea restaurant to eat.  No problema and we decided to go too.  The lunch was again excellent.  The rest of the posse was done before us and headed down to the Malecon where we were to join them.

At this point the Keystone Cops trip started.  Just as we headed down the street to the Malecon we saw Sam and Rita on the Harley heading right.  By the time we got there they were all gone.  We did a quick tour of the Malecon at which time Sam, Rita and crew  were back at Otto's looking for us.  We headed out and .... "they were gone!  At this point George, Sharen, Pat and Jack decided to head home.  We took a little run down to La Tambora but the trailer park was down a dirt road so we decided to head home too.

The trip from Teacapan out to Esquinapa is a bit hair raising because of the potholes.  We can wiggle through them but vehicles are slowed down and will try to pass on our side if it looks like there are fewer pot holes.  They do not care if they are coming at you head on and miss you by inches.  Crazy!  We waited at the Pemex coming into Esquinapa for the rest of the crew but no one came so we left.  As we got to the other side of Esquinapa the Harley with Sam and Rita and Frank's jeep fell in behind us.  They had been sightseeing in Esquinapa and it was just a fluke they were behind us.  Next time we'll have to make better plans!

When we got home there was an appy party at Frank and Sandi's to watch the hockey game between Canada and the U.S.  Eric was too tired but I went and they had great food.  I wasn't going to eat because I hadn't made anything and was still full from lunch but I did try Gerri's quail, and Betsy's Mexican pizza which was really, really good along with her carrot cake.  Betsy is the queen of food and she was nice enough to send some home with me so I didn't have to cook Eric dinner.  Eric says we must park closer to Betsy and Boomer next year because she is such a good cook!  We all have our talents!

Oh yeah, Canada lost but you probably knew that already!  Canada didn't play well until it was too late so they better pull up their socks for the next game.

Monday, February 22, 2010

On Monday Connie and I went out on a geocache mission to the cemetery.  Connie is into geocaching which involves a hand held GPS and clues to find things.  We had located one on the way up to El Farro on our first trip and this was her second trip to the cemetery to find this one.  We popped into Sorianas first as we had missed the cemetery and had to double back copping Uees just like the Mexicans.  We wandered the cemetery looking highly out of place and weren't making any progress at all.  Connie said she should have bought flowers so we would look like we should be there.  Finally I took the GPS and using my "great navigational skills"  (haha - just ask Eric about that!) managed to locate the grave which was a clue and tree with the small bottle Connie was looking for.  It was fun and then we headed off to find a place for lunch.  We ate at one of the pulled pork restaurants (can't remember the name) and Connie was nice enough to buy me lunch and there was left over pork that made supper too.  The pork and chicken here are really good.  We got a little lost heading back to get bottled water and her laundry but it all worked out.  Fun morning.   The wind picked up in the afternoon so my reading on the beach was a bust.

Eric hasn't been feeling well since Sunday so he hasn't been doing much.  Headachey and tired so who knows what that is about.

Tuesday  February 23, 2010

Rita came over this morning to show me her new tattoo that she had done  yesterday.  She has a couple of other ones and the new one is a graphic monkey with Chinese writing beside it.  It is her sign in the Chinese calendar and looks really good, very well done.

Rita's tattoo.  Nice, eh!

I think I would like a tattoo of a frog but maybe I'll wait until I get home.  Hal and Helene also added a tattoo but I haven't seen them.

The wind is just screaming today although it is sunny and would be warm without the wind.  A good day to blitz the housework, dump the tanks and do the laundry.  Get it all done in one day and then forget about it for a week.  Done!  I sat at the beach in the screaming wind by the wall with my back to the wind and finished my book.  Not great but better than being stuck in the campsight.  Tomorrow the Bocci crew is supposed to go out to dinner together but I hear there is another hockey game at 5:30 so we'll see if that pans out.

BEER WARS!
The park was treated to a large amount of bashing and crashing noise at about 2am this morning that lasted for a couple of hours.  We thought that they were clearing rubble across the street at the new tower but that was not the case.  When I went out for my walk this morning Fred was coming back and he said they had smashed down the new beer store (Pacifico) that had just been renovated.  I went to look and there wasn't much left just a big hole straight through.  What's up with that!

Where did the Pacifico store go?
The Cerritos store to the right is on Felipe's property.

When I got back Felipe was explaining to Rick and Jeanette that Pacifico had decided to put a beer store there but it was on La Marina's property.  That sounds a little fishy to me.

Not much left of the Pacifico store.

It was joined to Felipe's Tecate/El Sol store (actually the same building) but on two different properties and right now they are out there with a backhoe demolishing what is left of  the Pacifico store.  Felipe said the fellow running the store managed to get his stuff out late yesterday.  What's the real story, who knows.

A look from behind from inside the park.  Felipe's store on the left, the now missing Pacifico on the right.  Lots of dust and noise.

Felipe didn't look too sad as his store is now the one running and not the Pacifico store.  The Pacifico store was more popular with the gringos as it's a way better beer and it also carried a small amount of grocery items.  Another bizarre Mexican happening!

Early this afternoon we were treated to one of those RV parking events that are something to behold.  The first mistake was trying to park a really big motorhome in a really difficult spot when the whole park is wide open.  It was happening right out our window and Eric's first words were " He's not going to make it !"  Too true.  Second mistake,  he didn't observe the GOAL RULE " G et  O ut A nd L ook" ,  third mistake, he didn't stop when his wife who was standing in front of him was yelling " Stop, Stop, Stop"  Outcome..... Stuck, Stuck,Stuck!

That is a really tight fit and not what he wanted to do!
P.S. Double click this picture and you will see how tight he is to the palm tree!
Lots of people had advice but Eric said " Free advice is usually worth what it costs " and commented that he'd get a tow truck to drag the rig sideways.  At this point Peter decided to help since he used to move mobile homes.

So, what do we do now!

One jack up on the stuck side, boards under the wheel, tipped it away from the tree, drove forward and he was out!  Lucky guy as the rig and awning were touching the palm tree.

Good thing Peter knew what to do.
That's Martine the gardener on the right, he had a good laugh about this one.
I'll bet he's seen quite a few of these events!

Did somebody call a tow truck?

He is in real tight now so getting out when he leaves on Friday will be a trick.  I'll keep you posted!
