It's Thursday at 8:15 and we're on the road to Nogales,AZ and the Hotel Americana. No blog yesterday as we didn't do anything but get a few groceries for sandwiches. We did eat at the Vietnamese restaurant across the street last night and it was excellent as usual. Lots of vegetables and interesting flavours like lemon grass. Our stay at the Ramada Inn was a good stop. Comfortable room, good price, good bed, waffles and eggs for breakfast and three good restaurants. Curries and Chopsicks in the motel and Saigon Pho across the street. By the way diesel was $3.31 in Yuma!!
Long, long trains.
Right beside us!
It's a race😁
Heading south to Ajo on 85. We used to stay in Why when we were RVing and cross the border into Mexico at Lukeville. Now we're moteling we go in through Nogales. I think it's easer through Lukeville but we'd have to overnight two nights in Mexico as it's too far to Navojoa.
The Saguaros start to appear.
Coming into Ajo.
A really pretty little town with huge Hispanic influence.
Turn left on 86 towards Tucson. We're taking the scenic and much quieter route today.
Motorcycles everywhere heading south...maybe a rally in Rocky Point?
A pimple peak.
Anyone who knows us knows that's the last thing we'd go to! Tigger was hiding in the traier...he'd rather go to Mazatlan 🤣
The saguaros appear as we rise...2500ft here.
Water tower. An immigration sto with 6" high speed bumps. The trailer was rocking side to side. Is that really neccessary?
We came off 86 south of Tucson and continued to North Grande Ave and the Hotel Americana. We love this old hotel and stay coming and going.
Tucked in for the night and tomorrow Mexico. Wish us luck at km 21 for truck, trailer and motorcycle importation. New Mexican regs have a red flag if a truck is larger than a 1/2 ton as it might be used as a work truck. Why...who knows. All I know is you can't haul a 5th wheel with a 1/2 ton. Last year it took 3 hours to get it done. Always another rule.
You are making good time. Hope you have no problems with the rest of the drive. Thanks for the blog.
