Last night we had a really nice dinner in the La Pilirica restaurant in Los Mochis. We’ve eaten here a couple of times before and my meals were good but Eric had the worst hamburger he has ever eaten in his life on a previous occasion. Last night we both had “ Filete de Pescado a la Veracruzana” and the fish fillet in peppers, onions, tomatoes and olives was really good.
Lots of truck drivers eating, playing pool, having a shower and doing their laundry.
Looks pretty pristine this morning but the truck is covered in dust as the semis leave clouds of dust in the air especially with the afternoon winds.
It was packed in this lot last night….now not so much.
Gas station, “pension” or free gated parking lot, restaurant and hotel. Too bad it’s so dusty.
Heading out of Los Mochis towards Navajoa.
Wear your seatbelt!
What do you know….another toll already for really crappy road!
This one 159 pesos.
And away we go.
What might you find on a Mexican freeway….well cows. They did have a caballero on a horse with them but…. how much good does that do.
Welcome to Sonora we are now leaving Sinaloa.
An agricultural inspection. Checking the pigs and looking for fruit.
It’s hot and I doubt these pigs are very comfortable.
First fuel stop. 12.95 pesos for a litre. The pump says 62 liters and ….
The truck says 58 liters. Somebody is making money.
See that pavement. We are now in Sonora and it is bad. They are always repaving and it never lasts.
So guess what….we pay another toll!
This time 179 pesos. Eric says we should just throw money out the window as we drive!
No tractors allowed on the highway….just a suggestion.
That load of bricks looks well tied down!!!
Entering Navajoa.
Tacos anyone.
A really clean, pretty town with “13” stop lights.
This guy was selling newspapers like they do at most stop lights. At one point he was having a little nap while he stood there in traffic!
Beautiful.
We are through Navajoa and now….a concrete highway to Obregon. Bueno, Bueno, Bueno !!!
But there were …cows at the edge of the road and a lot more than I managed to catch a picture of.
So this time you don’t mind paying a toll…..okay a little but at least it’s worth it.
A truck load of logs…..where the heck did they come from?
What is that I see up on the right?
How else do you carry bales on hay in Mexico….on your moto of course!
Grain elevators on our way around Obregon.
Hay for sale out of the back of a truck.
What shall they charge?
That told us what we paid, then it said Bien Viaje then it was gone.
Right after the toll booth we stopped for lunch at the Pemex and spied this huge load on the back of a low bed.
Eric decided we should hurry lunch and hit the road as if we were behind this ….we couldn’t get by.
We are past Obregon and the highway is now…..no bueno again!
Driving through Vicam and there is nothing I want to buy.
Where the heck would I put that chair?
Mamma and Niño trying to cross the highway……always a challenge.
I bought the “On the Road Again” downloads a few years ago and printed them off. Since then we continue to make notes about fuel stops, toll fees and anything else of importance.
We are now in the Sonoran desert and it is sandy and dry.
We got off the toll road at Empalme on our way to Guayamas and the Hotel de Cortez RV park in Miramar.
A Ferro Carril exhibit on the free road by Empalme.
The wharves where the pangas tie up when they come in to unload in Empalme.
Causeway from Empalme to Guaymas
The bypass around Guaymas that takes you past the airport so you don’t have to go through the city. Today Eric decided to go through Guayamas and it was fine.
Huge decorative wall on our way in.
Guayamas and the the traffic isn’t too bad.
An empty LLantera (tire shop) and the owner is …..sleeping!
Heading down to Playa de Cortez and there is huge sea fog!
Yahoo we are here and it’s only 2:30 pm. A good day.
