This morning we wandered up the street to the Three Hermanos restaurant for breakfast again. We’d thought we could get perked coffee but here, as in much of Mexico it was instant and to be honest it really isn’t bad. We had fresh jugo de naranja (oj) and I had an omelet with jamon ( in Sorianas the ladies say yamon but I was corrected to say hamon) good to know! Delicious.
We loaded up with Frank and Sandi again in the jeep and headed off south to Sayulita. This is a popular place for the young surfing crowd but lots of tourists from Puerto Vallarta come to have a look as well so there are older people on the beach as well. When we got into the town and closer to the beach it was apparent that there was a bridge out. Turns out the major storm in September that took out the bridge between Las Varas and Zeculatan got this one too. It is a large bridge and they have created a pedestrian overpass but vehicles have to drive through the water if they want to pass over and get closer to the rest of the town and the beach.
This is one of the public washrooms at the edge of the road to the beach. I think you might have trouble standing up to pee in this one!
We wandered on down to the beach to have a look and were amazed by the amount of chairs that were set up looking at the water. I kind of think you might have to pay to sit in one. I asked one young women if there was a major surfing event happening but she said no, just a regular day!
Palapas and chairs on the beach.
Sandi pulled this piece of (junk or art) out of the water and this dog really wanted it because it had a stick stuck in it.
There was quite a tug of war and the dog got the stick and Sandi got the art. She didn’t bring it with us!
After we’d had a look at the beach we wandered back up into town to see what it had to offer. It was really dusty and dirty and Eric didn’t think much of it. Perhaps no rain for months makes the dust worse.
As we walked along the street we came to a large gallery. Inside upstairs there was a large display of pottery that I found quite beautiful. Very graphic and intricate. Have a look!
By the way, you would pay about $300 for one of the smaller pots. Not too shabby!
As we were walking back to the jeep we had a look at this RV park with no one in it. Likely due to the fact you couldn’t get to it because the bridge was out.
Time to head back to Los de Marcos for cerveza so we loaded up and hit the road.
When we got back one of our French Canadian neighbors had an impromptu school session with the maids in session. The maids were teaching her English and she was teaching them French she was paying them with Kahluha and milk. Needless to say it was loud and there was lots of laughing involved. I was again corrected on my poor Spanish pronunciation and this time the word was escuela or school! Oh well, at least I try and sometimes they even understand the odd word or two.
They didn’t serve Kahlua when I went to school!
Off to Saul’s for dinner and then, bed!
