Goldendale,WA to Coos Bay, Oregon

Yesterday morning we got another early start..on the road by 7:30 and -2C.  We had a good stay at the Quality Inn.

A beautiful morning and you can see the wind turbines in the distance.

Up ahead the mighty Columbia and the Dalles.  Another small booboo with a turn due to poor signage. A few F,s 😆 and a quick turn and we were on our way.

This is the most beautiful drive along the Dalles so get ready for lots of photos.
A large wind turbine blade on a truck going the other way.  Ginormous!!
My excellent driver.

Another dam on the mighty river.
A fancy railing.

The colours are just amazing.
Grape vines with fall colours.
And now...rain.  Oh well, it'll wash the truck and trailer.
The walking trails.
Up ahead the 205 bypass around Portland.

Onto the 205.
It's ten in the morning and the traffic was ferocious!

On I5 and the fields are turned over and planted.

Here we're leaving I 5 and heading west to the coast.
Beautiful fall colours here too and another lovely drive.

A long tunnel...going in.
And coming out.
Into Reedsport and then Highway 101 to Coos Bay.

Reedsport.

In the background the famous dunes.
And now the ocean.
Look at all the water we cross over.
The long, long, bridge.

Downtown Coos Bay.

We're  here and it was only 3pm so we made good time.  First up Manny backs us in by his shop where all his classic car reside.
What a shop...Eric is so jealous!
Eric and Connie.
We're happy to be here for a couple of days and have a good visit.  Last night Manny made us his famous clam chowder...yum!  Connie had made individual flags for dessert...delicious 😋
Today it's pouring rain and we're being accused of bringing it with us from home😂

Kelowna,BC to Goldendale, WA

Up early this morning and on the road by 7:45 am.  7c and not raining.  We had a great family visit and finished off with pizza last night wit...lots of jalapeños.  We'll see Ian and Linda in Mazatlan when they arrive in January.

Up over the lake bridge heading through west kelowna towards the highway south to the US border.

Oliver BC

We had the funniest US border guard ever today! He asked if we had any food on board...poutine, coffee crisp, nanaimo bars...any thing Canadian😄 We said we were going to Mexico and he asked how much money we had and I said $2500. Canadian in pesos and he said well..that's about $5. US.  Just joking around.  Had a quick look in the trailer and the.."have a nice day!"

First stop Akins market for beer.

The fuel is getting cheaper.

I just love the hills.

Brewster, WA

It was a really pretty day.

Around every corner another beautiful view of the Columbia River.

Lake Chelan is up on the hill and so is the lake.

First fuel in Washington $4.19 gallon US just before Wenatchee.

Below Hydro Park on the east end of Wenatchee for lunch.

Right about here and just down the road we missed the turn over the Columbia River to Vantage.  No way to turn around so I let Mr. Google plan an alternate route.  All back roads and highways but we didn't get lost or get here late...surprisingly!  However the stress of not knowing isn't great.  So...no photos on the bypass roure😁

Even grape vines turning colour are pretty.

Here we'll cross the Columbia and head towards 97 south.

The fall colours is lovely and we think it must be Oak trees.

We were steadily climbing to the summit and then down.

We rolled into the Quality Inn in Golden Dale, WA just before 4:30.  We stayed here last year and it's a decent stop.  A bit shorter route to Connie and Manny's in Coos Bay tomorrow.  So.. a shower, beer borscht with a bunch and bed.
