We return to San Ignacio …this time with friends!

First off….yes my new camera has spots on it and I will have it cleaned shortly.  I take hundreds of pictures and most of them are at high speed on the back of the bike and the dust gets driven inside.  A cost of doing business.

So…today Frank/Sandi/Dennis and Marilyn accompanied us in the jeep.  I was uncertain as to what I would blog as we had been in San Ignacio recently but….I can always find something to take pictures of.   Sorry for the spots.

First up….fuel. IMG_2616

There was Mexican dance music playing and when I lifted my arms (in motorcycle gear) and started dancing I got a pretty good laugh out of the gas station attendant.IMG_2617

Heading out of town with the jeep behind.  IMG_2619

Coming through the small town just before the turn off to El Quelite there was a huge semi filled with empty water bottles.  IMG_2620

This hay type material is coarse, brown, rained on and looks quite inedible.

IMG_2625

Coming through Coyotitan the circus was in town.  IMG_2628

Just east of Coyotitan our friends the burro’s were on the road. IMG_2630

Many of the trees are covered in cotton balls. IMG_2632

The road repair crew filling the potholes with….cement.  They have to stay there until it hardens.  IMG_2634

Before San Ignacio this fellow is always selling the most beautiful radishes you have ever seen.  On another trip Sandi bought some.  She planned to get some on the way back but….he was gone.  You snooze….you lose!IMG_2636

We have had some torrential down pours over the past two weeks and the bougainvillea are very happy. IMG_2637

I just love the colorful buses.  This one says San Javier. IMG_2638

The arch of San Ignacio. IMG_2639

The river has lots of water and the horses are swimming across. IMG_2640

These tropical pines are architectural beauties. IMG_2641

Another welcome to San Ignacio statue. IMG_2644

It’s hot and we are off the bike.  IMG_2645

The very large Jesus statue on the hill. IMG_2646

Let’s get to the restaurant, Sandi and Frank lead the way. IMG_2647

Open….and it even has a new sign. IMG_2649

Same waitress….same rapido Spanish menu….and “mas despacio por favor!”  Even slowly it didn’t help much.  We all had a good laugh. IMG_2650

Sandi and Marilyn enjoy a really cold beer. IMG_2651

The appetizer.  A nice plate of salad with avocado and tomato.  IMG_2652

Eric had camerones rancheros today and he said they were delicious and cooked just right. IMG_2653

Camarones empanizado (breaded shrimp) good also. IMG_2654

Some of us had the pollo, frito a la plancha.  Flattened, fried chicken breast….good too!IMG_2655

Sandi and I and ….the spots. IMG_2656

Dennis always has fun….even when he has to pay the bill!  His favorite was the corn tortillas which he swears are the best he has ever eaten.  IMG_2657

The waitress (owner?) and her amiga. IMG_2658

Neat, odd planter. IMG_2659

We were not the only customers.  The red cross crew were hungry too.

IMG_2660

We walked back up the street towards the Dulceria (candy shop) and Dennis and I stopped in the farm/hardware etc. store. Cowbells and plaster trowels in the same case. IMG_2661

A chainsaw perhaps.IMG_2662

Or….maybe a machete.IMG_2663

Are you guys ever coming?

IMG_2664

A quick stop for some nail polish.  Any color of the rainbow. IMG_2665

A bit of leftover Valentine’s Day merchandise.

 IMG_2667

Is she cute or what!

IMG_2669

We stocked up on candy.  The Mexicans like their sweets….and apparently so do we!IMG_2670

Lovely streets here. IMG_2671

Heading back down to the square. IMG_2672

The light standards are beautiful and very, very old. IMG_2673

Dennis and I stopped for a quick look in the museum.  Been in here before but it always is nice to have a second look.  My friend Trudy is a weaver….think she’d like this one?IMG_2674

 IMG_2676

Beautiful gate to the outside.

IMG_2677

Old Gestetner type machine. IMG_2678

Back down in the square there are very old buildings in disrepair.  Some look okay from the street but behind….not so much. IMG_2679

 IMG_2680

A building that belonged to an important official who had offices and lived here a long time ago. IMG_2681

From the square side. IMG_2682

The fellow talking to Frank tried to explain the history of the building you see to the right that I just took pictures of.IMG_2683

A very large ornate Catholic church.

 IMG_2684

The town has these light standards everywhere.  IMG_2686

Bye, bye San Ignacio…..see you next time.

A good day with friends.
