Plan B….and a last ditch effort for axle alignment.

As many of you know we have struggled with axle alignment issues on our rig since we bought it 7 years ago.  We have had the axles aligned twice (once in Kelowna which was a joke) and once in Yuma last year.  We were really hopeful that the last alignment had helped but….no such luck.  We have had tire issues as well (trailer tires that showed separation) and one that actually separated heading home last spring.  That one tore the side of the rig off and resulted in an insurance claim.  Eric has replaced most of the trailer tires with truck tires but they are now showing abnormal wear patterns from the axle alignment problems as well.  Eric is sure the problem is camber which has never been addressed.  So….What To Do!   Well we have decided to try Arrow Frame and Alignment in Las Vegas.  Dick and Val from Montana (friends from Las Jaibas) took their rig there a couple of years ago and it is now fine.  We have an appointment for Thursday and then we’ll head towards Yuma.  The shop gets good reviews on line. There are many custom cars in Las Vegas and lots of car racing so there is a huge demand for this service.

While parked in Laughlin Eric has washed the rig and had an oil change on the truck at the Wal-Mart in Bullhead City.  We’ve picked up oil, diesel injector cleaner and numerous other things.  Besides all of that we are both still tired.  I guess it takes longer to acclimatize and get rested the older you get.

The weather is still very warm but there are some clouds in the sky so maybe it’s cooling down a bit.

Tomorrow morning up the huge hill from Laughlin to Searchlight and on to Las Vegas.  Wish us luck!

  1. I am trying to get an oil change at Walmart in Anderson, CA but they are refusing to put synthetic oil in a motorhome?? Good luck with the alignment, you have had your share of problems with that rig! Maybe Eric could build his own axle out of real steel.

  2. Hi Croft: Just looked at my reading list and wondered where you were. Eric says they should put whatever oil in the rig that you tell them to! We are back from Las Vegas and the post about that will follow. Successful trip....time will tell.

    1. I lost the battle. No synthetic oil option for motorhomes. Why? The computer says so.
