The motorcycle tire.

Saturday March 3, 2012

The wind is still cold and blowing…hope it stops soon.

Eric took the front wheel off the motorcycle today and took it down to a shop that Sam had found while we were away in Los de Marcos to have it changed.

Eric always brings his motorcycle jack in case of repairs.

P1020431Not a big deal to get the front wheel off.  The back one is a whole other story but at this point it is fine.

George and Sharen our friendly “UPS” people had kindly picked the tire up in Yuma on their way down a few weeks ago.  Eric had ordered it online and had it shipped to Bill & Arlie’s (son-in-law Wade’s Dad & stepmom’s.)  As mentioned before the front tire on Big Red was a recalled tire that had not been changed by the dealer in Scottsdale, AZ where we bought it.  When Eric noticed the tire was wearing funny he looked it up online and found out that Dunlop had recalled this tire and the dealer should have changed it.  Nasty!

Eric set off for the tire shop and I stayed home and played cards with the ladies.   No one spoke English in the shop but they indicated that they could change the tire for him.  His first worry was when the worker laid the wheel down on it’s rotor in the dirt…not a good thing.   A Mexican who could speak good English was also in the shop and when he saw what was about to take place he told Eric” don’t let them change the tire as they only have automotive equipment and they will damage it.”  He also told Eric there was a gringo motorcycle rider named Ted who lived not far from the shop who had the equipment to change and balance the tire.  Turns out Ted was one of the guys that Sam was riding with that day.  So…home with the wheel and new tire and put it back on the bike.  Eric set off to find the other shop that MotoMaz had suggested and that Sam had been unable to find.  He found it down by Valentino’s and MacDonald’s.  Later that day when Sam returned he rode over to Ted’s to see if he could change the tire.  Turns out Ted’s equipment is back in Kamloops, B.C. except for the wheel balancer and he said that that the same shop Eric had been at first could change the tire but to see Jesus! Tomorrow is Sunday so Eric will wash the bike and try again on Monday.

While all this has been going on I have been getting the laundry done, walking on the beach, playing cards and enjoying the relaxing atmosphere of this park.  People have been leaving (Carole & Richard with Brenda &      ) and then there are always overnighters stopping at this time of the year.  It is a big park that isn’t very full so no one is too worried that they will get a close neighbor.
